Has your builder told you that you need a Klargester? 🤔

Here's the thing. Klargester is a brand, not a type of sewage treatment plant, in the same way Hoover is a brand of vacuum cleaner. If you're not on the main sewer, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Filling your water butt from the downpipe? You've got two options: a diverter or a filter 🌧️

They both do the same basic job. The difference is what goes in with the water, and that could save you a blocked tap.

Watch the video to see which one is right for you, then let us know in the comments which you use 👇

Another department ticked off for Alex Teban! 👏

Our apprentice Alex is now just over six months into his 12-month apprenticeship with GRAF UK, which is giving him the opportunity to spend time across different areas of the business before ultimately deciding where he’d like to work full-time at the end of it.

For the past five weeks, he’s been part of our Finance team - so naturally, we marked his last day with them with afternoon tea. 🧁

Next week, he moves into Stock Management & Operations to get stuck into another completely different side of GRAF UK.

For us, that’s one of the best parts of Alex’s apprenticeship. He isn’t having to decide what he wants to do before he’s had the chance to experience it.

He gets to see how the different parts of the business work, learn from the people within them and, over the course of the year, work out where his own strengths and interests might take him.

Six months down, plenty still to explore.

A few weeks ago, whilst members of the team from GRAF UK were out and about at events across the country, Charlotte Hucklesby & Alicia Bennett headed to the Emirates for a development day with Will It Make The Boat Go Faster 🚣‍♂️

We shared a little from the day at the time, but more importantly, we asked them what they actually took away from it…

“Attending the event with WIMTBGF was a really motivational, eye-opening and constructive experience.

Hearing from an Olympic gold medallist and learning about their journey, challenges and determination gave us a new and different perspective on the importance of resilience, discipline and believing in yourself, both as individuals and as a team.

The event encouraged us to reflect on our own goals, as well as those of our team, and motivated us to approach future challenges with greater confidence, positivity and purpose.

We need to continue being open and giving and receiving feedback, because that’s only going to help us improve. Not everyone will work in the same way, but that’s OK, and it will continue to make our boat go faster.”

Plenty to bring back to the team from a day away from the usual routine.

And perhaps a useful question for all of us…

When was the last time you stepped outside your usual working day and came back thinking differently about something?

Ever wondered how much rain actually lands on your roof? 🌧️

A typical UK home can collect up to 85,000 litres a year, and most of it simply runs down the drain. We've broken down what that water could be used for and what it could save you.

Watch the video, then try our Rainwater Harvesting Tank Size Calculator to see what your roof could collect 👇

Dozens of projects across England have planning permission but are still stuck, and the reason catches a lot of people out.

It is called nutrient neutrality, and if your site sits in an affected river catchment, it decides whether you break ground or wait months.

Building in a nutrient neutrality catchment? There are two ways to deal with it, and they do not cost the same.

You can buy nutrient credits, or you can reduce the nutrient load your site creates in the first place. Your choice of wastewater treatment decides which position you start from.

Does your sewage treatment plant smell of ammonia or rotten eggs?

A lot of homeowners assume that's just part of owning one. It isn't. Both smells mean something inside the tank needs attention, and bleach will only make things worse.

Our latest video explains what's causing it and what to check first 👇

Know someone with a treatment plant? Give this a share.
