We’re delighted to celebrate with our client, Dogs Trust in West Calder, Scotland following the official opening of their impressive new reception and rehoming building last week and now, phase two of the £11.3 million rebuild is underway! 🎉🐕

Resident Greyhound Lasagne Longlegs, Dogs Trust CEO Owen Sharp, West Calder Manager Susan Tonner and Deacon Blue singer and actress Lorraine McIntosh helped break ground at the West Lothian rehoming centre to mark the next stage of the exciting transformation.

Completion of phase one works by Martin & Hamilton, delivered fantastic new facilities, including a spacious reception, 13 glass-fronted kennels, five exercise runs, bespoke laundry, food preparation, bath and groom rooms, an assessment room, refurbished training barn and new maintenance workshop.

Guests including His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for West Lothian, Mrs Moira Niven MBE, TNT Sports presenter Emma Dodds and MSP for Almond Valley Angela Constance also toured the new facilities and saw the transformation first-hand.

Phase two will deliver additional new facilities including:
- A new intake building and purpose-built mother and puppy unit
- Specialist facilities for dogs requiring additional support
- Four further exercise runs with varied enrichment
- Upgraded veterinary facilities
- 36 kennels in total

Sustainability is at the heart of the rebuild, with recycled rainwater, solar panels and air-source heat pumps helping to create a more energy-efficient rehoming centre. We’re proud to be delivering this project and look forward to seeing the difference these new facilities will make. 🐕

Solar panels have now been installed on the new pitched roof, marking another key milestone in the refurbishment project. We're also introducing external insulation to the building for the first time in its 90-year history, helping to improve energy efficiency and enhance the building's long-term performance.

Exciting to see the external facades beginning to emerge at our Belfast city centre Adagio Aparthotel project.

With the red brickwork, curtain walling, rainscreen cladding and architectural detailing now revealed, the building is really starting to take shape. It's always rewarding to see a project progress through each stage of construction and watch the vision come to life.
