We replaced a 40 year old Ideal heat only boiler recently. There was nothing wrong with it, the client just wanted an upgrade.

Here’s a few reasons why upgrading your old boiler when it’s working fine is a good idea.

Very low efficiency – Older models waste a significant amount of gas, driving up your energy bills.

Difficult to repair – Spare parts are often discontinued, making breakdowns costly and time-consuming to fix.

Reduced reliability – Ageing components mean it’s far more likely to fail, especially in colder months when demand is high.

Safety risks – Older boilers may lack modern safety features, increasing the risk of gas leaks or carbon monoxide emissions.

Not compliant with modern standards – It won’t meet current energy efficiency or building regulations, which could affect resale value.
