Maybole fundraiser aims to help young dad battling stage four cancer
A Maybole family is appealing for community support as they raise funds to help a young father access private cancer treatment.
John Robertson, 35, is a devoted dad to three children and is currently battling stage four oesophageal cancer.
In June, John and his family received the devastating news that his prognosis was estimated at just nine to ten months. They are now determined to explore every possible treatment option in the hope of giving him more precious time with his family.
A special fundraising afternoon will be held at The Carrick Centre in Maybole on Saturday, August 29, from 1pm until 3pm.
The event will feature live music, a buffet, prizes and other activities, with all funds raised going towards private treatment and exploring further options that may be available to John.
John’s wife said: “This means absolutely everything to our family. John is a young dad with three children, and we are determined to explore every avenue available to give him the best possible chance.
“We are doing everything we possibly can to give John the best chance of more time with his family. We are fundraising to help him access private treatment and explore every possible treatment option available to us.
“We would be incredibly grateful if people could help us spread the word and support the fundraising event.”
The family is also appealing to individuals and local businesses that may be able to donate prizes, gift cards or vouchers for the fundraiser.
Children’s entertainers, face painters and small businesses interested in running a stall or supporting the afternoon are also being encouraged to get involved.
Those unable to attend can still help by donating a prize, offering their services or sharing details of the fundraiser with others.
The John Robertson Fundraiser takes place from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, August 29, at The Carrick Centre, Culzean Road, Maybole, KA19 7DE.
