I sat here thinking about quotes from a customers perspective the other day. As a customer you normally get 3 quotes for works you want to carry out.

BUT, they all sell a good story. So who do you pick?

Here are 10 tips for choosing the right contractor for your job.

1️⃣ Have they got reviews? Facebook, Instagram, Google, Trade associations and accreditations?

2️⃣ Gut feel... it's always important and something I'd listen to

3️⃣ Did the contractor spend time explaining the process? Do you feel comfortable knowing what is going to happen?

4️⃣ Did you pick your chosen finish or did the contractor tell you what they would do? An experienced contractor will spend time listening to what you want and working a solution.

5️⃣ Have they got social media posts with jobs completed? A good contractor won't hide their work!

6️⃣ Have you got a formal written quote within 48 hours. Good contractors will communicate quickly and efficiently.

7️⃣ How long has the contractor been trading. A quick google search on companies house will show you. You can even look at their accounts.

8️⃣ Did the contractor confirm they would like to take the job on? If not why not?

9️⃣ How quickly did the contractor communicate from initial enquiry? Companies that communicate quickly and efficiently will normally offer a superior service

🔟 Did the contractor spend time managing your expectations? We all know things can crop up. Refurbishment is never straight forward and knowing the pitfalls of the job before you start and expected solutions shows the sign of an experienced contractor.

This floor was a mixture of medium and darker tones. It was previously stained white and this had worn badly. We sanded it back, smoothed it, stained in Ultra White, primed and lacquered. Call us on 01296 399450 to get your floors restored.

These oak floors were looking really worn and tired in we sanded them back, smoothed them and decorates in 2K satin lacquers with a primer to seal the wood. They look as good as new and once dry will leave a lovely fresh satin finish to the floors.
