“Where do you find the time?”

People ask me that a lot. Anyone who knows me knows how busy life generally is. So I thought I’d chuck this video out there, because this is where I find it.

Early morning, sat in the van, while the family’s still asleep.

Two quotes, one invoice, two coffees. A couple of books dropped off. Now a bit of editing before the working day starts.

The book is written. I’m working through the edits and all the little jobs needed to get it ready to publish.

I spent a couple of hours on it yesterday, but I wanted some proper family time too. So this morning, I’m catching up with something that matters to me.

Poor-quality video, half in the dark, but it’s real life. Fitting something I believe in around work and family.

If you’re doing the same—building something outside your normal working day—and you’re doubting yourself or feeling like you’ve stalled, keep going.

People can support you and encourage you, but those little steps still have to come from you. Give yourself credit for taking them, even when progress feels slow.

Brick by brick. Day by day. Keep building the life you want. 👊

Funny video. Familiar problem.

I understand why people go for the cheapest quote. When money’s tight and something needs fixing, you’re trying to make your budget stretch. I get it.

But if one quote is substantially cheaper than all the others, it’s worth asking why. What’s been allowed for? What’s been missed?

For me, the best bit of this video is where the bodge actually starts. It isn’t putting the flooring down upside down. That’s a mistake. Even good tradespeople make mistakes.

It’s what you do next.

A good tradesperson would stand there, nearly cry, then take it back up and put it right. A bad one would cover it up. And a really bad one would keep bodging their way out of it, making every stage worse.

We’ve spent enough time putting that sort of work right. It’s why No Bodge was born—to raise standards and help people recognise what they should expect from the people working in their homes.

Doing it properly includes putting your own mistakes right. Even when it costs you.

No Bodge. 👊

You get used to seeing a room covered in dust, tools and half-finished work. Then the lights go on, everything’s cleared away, and you remember why you do it.

A bare wall turned into a proper focal point—the fire, the lighting, all those details coming together.

We’re usually straight onto the next job, but this one deserved a moment to stand back and appreciate it.

WPR Renovations. No Bodge.

You’re early. I’m still laying bricks, writing books and finding out how far a stubborn bastard with an idea can take this 😂

Bricks & Dreams started with stories I thought were worth telling. Now there’s a second book on the way, and I keep wondering where I’ll be five years from now.

Stick around. You might get to say, “I remember his first book.”

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 🧱📚

Three different jobs. Different stages. All today.

Bit of this, bit of that, and a head full of what needs doing next. Keeping things moving, keeping everyone in the loop and trying to keep everybody happy.

These pictures are just a few moments from a busy Friday. Between them is all the running about, phone calls and working out how to be in three places at once.

Haven’t mastered that bit yet. 😂

Nothing special laid on for the camera. Just a standard day at WPR.

Plenty going on. No Bodge.

I spend my days working in other people’s homes. Then I go home and write about what goes on in my own head. 😂

Bricks & Dreams is life on the tools—the laughs, the long hours, the people you meet and the worries you take home when everyone thinks you’re doing alright.

These are a few lines from my books. If you recognise yourself in them, you’ll understand why I wanted to write it all down.

Book two is coming. And I’ve got 8 signed copies of book one to give away.

Fancy reading one? Let me know below. 👇

There’s a lot of work between “can you give us a quote?” and “that looks lovely.”

That’s the bit you’re watching here. Working things out, getting stuck in and putting the care into things that’ll eventually be covered up.

I want to walk away proud of what we’ve done. And I want you to feel glad you trusted us with your home.

Real work. Real people. No Bodge.
