🏵️ A trip to Peter Beales Roses

I have added a few roses to my garden since moving in and love coming here to get inspiration! The archways in full bloom are so beautiful ❤️‍🔥

A one off city courtyard garden spruce up! Lots of weeding and pruning (the grape will be given a good prune in winter) as well as installing a sleeper to give the bed more definition. The result was a nice new blank canvas for the family to plant up and enjoy 💚

A visit to Cambridge University Botanical garden 🪴 . What a cool place! The Systematic Beds section was very interesting and a great way to see plants in the flesh that you’ve only seen in photos. They have organised them into groups like a library of plants 🤩 which was great for getting inspiration. Some of the plants you see here:
1. Salvia nemerosa ‘Caradonna Pink Inspiration’
2. Aster tongolensis - reminded me of Echinacea!
3. Geranium clarkei
4. Eremurus stenophyllus
5. A perfectly round lavender!
6. A combo of nepeta, phlomis russeliana and stipa. Simple but great!
7. Beta trigyna
8. Veronica topiaria - a compact low lying h**e that I thought was quite pretty
9. Allium ‘Summer Drummer’ in the background standing tall
10. Centaurea scabiosa
11. Cerinthe minor - I’m loving cerinthe lately and hadn’t seen this colour before!
12. Dahlia merkii - very dainty with cosmos vibes

Some snippets of spring at home 🪴💕

I just love pink tulips in pots. You can see Tulip ‘Vogue’, ‘Claudia’ and ‘Infinity’ here with a bonus ‘Muvota’ that is on its fourth year of coming up underneath the apple tree 🙌

I’m hoping to plant more tulips in the lawn. I especially love the botanical/species type; they are hardier and usually have daintier flowers with pointy petals. A great option for naturalising in the garden. Some of my fave that I’m hoping to use are ‘Lady Jane’ ‘Lilac Wonder’ and ‘Peppermint Stick’ 🌷

Also pictured is the wonderful blossom on the pear tree which produces so much more fruit since I espaliered it!

Watching everything unfurl is giving me lots of excitement for the year ahead in the garden 🍐🌼💚

Hello from my favourite place to be!

I’m Em. I have a small gardening business in Norfolk where I help people care for their green spaces.

After having some time out raising my little ones I’m ready to start growing my business this year and will be taking on new clients ✨🥳

I’m RHS and Edinburgh Botanical trained and have been gardening professionally for four years.

Willow 🤎

I decided to turn the end of the garden where we store our junk into more of a relaxing destination that also better hides said junk!

A good weaver friend let me harvest some of their willow for the project 🫶. I planted some for the uprights and wove the rest through them to form a fence.

This part of the garden is quite boggy so the uprights have taken really well and I only lost about one or two.
Having the living ‘posts’ means I’ll have a source of willow to harvest from in future which will be great for making things like plant supports ✨

This was my first attempt at weaving so it’s a bit rustic (I had to reinforce the end with some poles from an old windbreak 😂) but overall I’m very pleased with our new screen! The colours are so beautiful in the firelight 🧡

I might add more willow in future or finish with some hazel on top but for now I will hang our homemade tin lanterns, light the fire pit and enjoy the new space 💥💥💥
