We recently completed the screening on this block of apartments. This consisted of a 65mm sand and cement screed on acoustic insulation layer.

To get your floor flat and level we dapple the screed in two directions.

Many people see us running a dapple bar through freshly poured flow screed and assume it’s just for appearance. In reality, it’s a critical part of the installation process.

✅ First pass: Removes trapped air bubbles introduced during pumping and pouring. This helps eliminate voids and ensures the screed fully encapsulates underfloor heating pipes.

✅ Second pass (at 90° to the first): Further levels the screed, breaks any remaining surface tension, and helps achieve the smooth, SR-standard finish that flow screed is known for.

Dappling in two directions promotes a more consistent finish across the entire floor, reduces the risk of imperfections, and helps the screed self-level correctly. The result is a flatter, stronger, and more professional floor ready for the next stage of the build.
