Bliby Bespoke I have now decided to start trading on my own providing the same high end quality work

I am a cabinet maker with over 2 decades experience in the trade, previously employed as a Workshop Manager & Head Joiner at a high end bespoke cabinetry firm.

“You seem like a really nice person, I just don’t want to do it.”

Is there anything wrong with being brutally honest in business, or do we all need a little smoke and mirrors?

I’d rather someone tell me straight than make excuses, overprice a job or ghost me. But is total honesty always the best policy?

Business owners, I genuinely want your opinions on this one.

Follow along for more honest conversations about running a small business, the good, the bad and everything in between.

I have been using oil plus 2c for over 6 years and it is still one the the products in this trade that I am most impreed by. It makes finishing so easy and quick while making the timber really come to life.
As always I highly recommend !

This is Project Salvation.

After more than 2 decades as a cabinet maker, the pressure of running my own business has started to take its toll on my mental health. So, rather than taking on another client project, I decided to make one piece of furniture purely because I wanted to and use it to hopefully do some good.

I’m designing and building this cabinet from scratch, with 100% of the profit going to (Campaign Against Living Miserably) to help support their work in su***de prevention.

And I genuinely couldn’t do it without the incredible support I’ve already received.

A huge thank you to .kent.timber , John , Cassie , Sophie and Jose , and for their generous donations and support.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed, most of the main materials are now covered but there’s still room to make this project even bigger.

I’m still looking for businesses or individuals who might be able to donate something that could go inside the cabinet and increase the overall value of the project.

That could be a voucher for a service, a product, tools that can be used during the build and then become part of the finished piece, or anything else you think could add something special.

There’s also a JustGiving page for anyone who would simply like to make a donation towards Project Salvation. You can find the link in my bio.

Every contribution, big or small, helps turn this into more than just a piece of furniture.

A piece of furniture. A greater purpose.

If you think you might be able to contribute something to the project, please get in touch.

FRIDAY UPDATE !
Walnut gone, big wardrobe down, millions on its way

01/10/2026

Project Salvation.
No client.
No designer.
No deadline.
Just me, some beautiful timber, and the freedom to make something because I want to.
I’ve spent a lot of time recently struggling with my mental health, and I think I need to remind myself why I fell in love with making furniture in the first place.
So, when I finish this current run of work, I’m going to take a break and make one piece purely for the love of making it.
And when it’s finished, I’m going to sell it.
The profit will go to CALM — Campaign Against Living Miserably.
So hopefully, this piece can do two things.
Help me find a little bit of myself again,
and then help somebody else.
I’ve got no idea how long it’s going to take, what problems I’ll encounter, or exactly where it’s going to end up.
But I do know I’m going to make it to the absolute best of my ability.
I’ll be documenting the whole thing along the way, and I’ll probably be asking for your opinions on some of the decisions too.
So if you fancy following along with Project Salvation, I’d love to have you with me.

Is there a better timber than European oak?
Ill save you some time the answer is no.
Painted cabinets are lovely but really nothing beats the natural beauty of oak.

The softclose hardware and the
Ironmongery really just bring this together beautifully.

This one is ready to be stripped apart to make room for the next one, sadly I didnt have enough room to build them both at the same time.

Cant wait to see it all oiled up in
Pure !

PROJECT SALVATION 4.0 Things are heating up!

This has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined.

The support, generosity and offers of help have been genuinely overwhelming and we’re already well over £2,000 raised before the cabinet has even been made.

But there’s one thing I really need help with now

Not just because it helps raise money today, but because one day this cabinet is going to be finished and put up for auction.

And when that happens, I want it to be seen by as many people as possible.

The more people who know about Project Salvation now, the more chance we have of reaching the right person when the cabinet eventually goes under the hammer.

Someone who sees it, understands what it represents, and wants to own a completely unique piece of furniture knowing that their money is going towards helping people who are struggling.

Every share helps us get one step closer to that.

And if you'd like to contribute but don't have a product or service that fits inside the cabinet, I've now set up a Project Salvation JustGiving page. Every penny donated there goes directly to CALM.

There are already some incredible people and businesses involved, and I'll be sharing more of the story and hopefully the rough design of the cabinet very soon.

1 piece of furniture. A greater purpose.

Thank you to everyone who's shared, donated, contributed, offered their time, or simply sent me a message.
