New Build… New Problems!

We were recently called out to a new build property only a few years old, after the homeowner noticed an issue with their lighting.

What we found was shocking…

The lighting connector had overheated and melted, leaving the terminals badly burnt. Once we investigated further, we discovered the conductors hadn’t been terminated correctly, creating a high-resistance connection that generated excessive heat.

This is a serious fire risk and a reminder that just because a home is new doesn’t mean the electrical installation is fault-free.

âś… Fault diagnosed.
âś… Damaged connector replaced.
âś… Wiring correctly terminated and tested.
âś… Installation left safe for the customer.

If you’ve recently moved into a new build and something doesn’t seem right—flickering lights, warm fittings, or tripping electrics—don’t ignore it. Small issues can quickly become dangerous if left unchecked.

Your home’s electrics should give you peace of mind, not put your family at risk.

If you have any concerns about your electrical installation, get in touch for a professional inspection.

A great day on the tools with Marley completing a consumer unit upgrade.

As part of the job, he accidentally broke the SPD (Surge Protection Device). These things happen when you’re learning, and it’s all part of gaining real-world experience. We got a replacement fitted, tested everything, and all is well.

Being an apprentice isn’t about never making mistakes—it’s about learning from them, understanding what went wrong, and becoming a better electrician because of it. Marley took it in his stride, and that’s exactly the attitude that helps someone progress in the trade.

Keep up the good work, Marley!

Another happy customer 👍

We upgraded the house consumer unit and installed power into the garage and summer house — just in time for summer. They’re going to get plenty of use out of that space now!

Absolute pleasure working for such nice people from start to finish đź’™
