🍎 A recent site visit to The King’s School, Grantham, where Studio JAMB are overseeing the restoration of a remarkable Grade I listed building following a successful tender through MAC .

The project centres on the careful replacement of the roof, with a particular focus on conserving the historic oak roof structure, alongside localised repairs to the stonework and replacement of the lead detailing. Working closely with the Conservation Officer, every intervention is designed to preserve the craftsmanship and character of this 700-year-old building.

One of the highlights of the visit was discovering a piece of historic graffiti, Sir Isaac Newton’s name, carved into the stone during his time as a pupil at the school. A remarkable reminder that these buildings don’t just preserve architecture; they preserve the stories of those who shaped history.

Trading the studio for the woodland 🌿☀️

Earlier this month, Studio JAMB spent the day volunteering with the Ilam Park, National Trust park rangers, helping to remove Himalayan balsam from woodland alongside a river in Ecton.

Working through dense shrubbery and brambles in the summer heat wasn’t easy, but it was incredibly rewarding. Himalayan balsam is an invasive species that spreads rapidly, outcompeting native plants and leaving riverbanks vulnerable to erosion.

Despite the challenging conditions, we helped remove over 2,000, making a small but meaningful contribution to protecting this beautiful landscape in the White Peak.

As architects and designers, we spend our time forming places for people. Days like this are a great reminder that caring for the natural environment is just as important.

A big thank you to the National Trust rangers for their guidance and the fantastic work they do every day.

Excited to share that Studio JAMB has been working with the Padel 18 Dronfield team to create the brand-led interior design for their new high end padel club in Dronfield.

The bold red courts make an immediate statement that connects the interiors to the Padel 18 brand.

The club will feature four doubles courts, one singles court, a speciality coffee bar and contemporary changing facilities, creating a premium experience both on and off the court.

It’s been a pleasure working with such a passionate team and we can’t wait to see the doors open… and get out on the court!

We’re delighted to have submitted a planning application, in collaboration with Nineteen47 for the extension of a historic warehouse in Attercliffe, Sheffield. Once at the heart of the city’s steel industry.

For many years, this building has been an important creative home for musicians, with its rehearsal rooms and recording studios playing a significant part in Sheffield’s rich musical story, both locally and globally.

The proposal includes a first floor extension, creating new rehearsal spaces alongside two high quality recording studios. Designed with specialist sound separation and balancing, the scheme will provide exceptional acoustic environments while respecting the building’s industrial character and celebrating its musical heritage.

We can’t wait to see (and hear) what the next generation of artists creates here.

Studio JAMB are pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for a new timber platform overlooking a “dipping pond” at Ilam Park and Dovedale in the Peak District.

Commissioned by the National Trust, we secured approval for a platform that will support outdoor education, giving visitors and school groups the opportunity to learn about local wildlife and biodiversity in this unique landscape.

We’re proud to be part of a project that connects people with nature through thoughtful, sensitive design.

We're pleased to be delivering the technical stages of a refurbishment project in South Yorkshire, having been appointed as Architect and Lead Designer from RIBA Stage 4 through to completion.
This project forms Phase 1 of a wider masterplan, which also includes a new-build education centre and significant landscape enhancements across the site.
The first phase comprises a new cafĂŠ extension to an existing garden centre, using matching brickwork and feature timber cladding to create a welcoming entrance within its leafy setting. Roof-mounted PV panels will also be retrofitted to improve the centre's sustainability and reduce its operational energy consumption.
Alongside our architectural role, Studio JAMB is also acting as CDM Principal Designer and Building Safety Act Principal Designer throughout the project.
We'll keep you posted as the project progresses.

A fantastic day on site reviewing progress on this beautiful listed stone barn conversion in Derbyshire.

The kitchen within the double-height “Grand Hall” is really coming together. The exposed stonework is currently protected while decorating continues, and the marble island slab looks exceptional.

The oak king trusses have been sandblasted and are being resealed, the stone repairs are looking excellent, and the reopened historic apertures are framing stunning views across the Derbyshire countryside.

It’s always rewarding to see a listed building being carefully restored while creating a contemporary home that celebrates its heritage.

We also took our new flasks out for a spin 👀…

Here's a first look at the visuals for our Yorkshire project.

Crisp stone forms meet cascading greenery from the green roof, giving the extension a softer, more playful edge as it settles into its surroundings.
Inside, a calm palette of walnut, marble and stone flows down into a sunken conversation pit.

A cosy, sociable spot anchored by a log burner.

We’re pleased to be moving a new project towards planning; a single-storey extension and reconfiguration to a listed Arts and Crafts home in Yorkshire.

The design responds to the west-facing garden, with geometric forms that wrap around the house and follow the sun path, creating spaces shaped by light throughout the day.

Reclaimed Yorkshire stone grounds the extension in its context, offering a subtle contrast to the historic fabric.

Inside, a mid-century inspired conversation pit forms a social heart, while north lights bring soft, diffused daylight into the central kitchen.
