Tayside Stoves

I sat by my stove with a chill in my bones,
Surrounded by wood that was heavy as stones.
The salesman had promised they’d burn like a dream,
But all they are doing is venting out steam.

They hiss like a kettle, they spit like a cat,
I’ve used half a blowtorch—they’re laughing at that!
The glass is pitch black and the lounge is a bog,
I’m freezing to death by a damp, stubborn log.

So learn from my blunder, don't buy from a rogue,
Where shivering in blankets is currently vogue.
To clear out the chill and get rid of the fog,
Get the good stuff that burns, from Angus Logs!

WHY WE LAUNCHED TAYSIDE STOVES

For over two decades, Steve Beattie Joinery has been renovating homes across Dundee, Angus, and Stonehaven. During this time, we noticed a recurring problem.

Customers would hire a “stove company” to put a log burner in. The stove would work, but the finish was often poor. We were constantly being called in afterwards to fix rough plasterwork, install new skirting boards, or relay hearths that hadn’t been levelled correctly. 🛠️

We realised there was a better way.

We built Tayside Stoves to offer a complete, end-to-end service, combining over 25 years of building experience with specialist stove expertise. The result is a company that cares just as much about how the wall looks as how the fire burns 🔥

20 years of hands-on experience — not something you gain on a three-day course.
A HETAS badge has its place, but real craftsmanship comes from years on the tools.
Quality stoves. Quality materials. Proven workmanship.
At Tayside Stoves, experience shows in the finish. 🔥

I’m not sure any of us are ready to give up the warmer days and lighter morning and nights, but it’s definitely going to change soon…
Invest in a wood burning stove…. Putting on a log or two will take the chill off and make your home feel cosy and comforting as we head into autumn/winter time.

Choosing Angus Logs means choosing firewood that has been prepared with the customer’s convenience in mind.

We produce some of the most consistently sized kiln-dried logs available, with each log cut to approximately 9 inches in length and generally 3–5 inches in diameter. This practical size is suitable for the majority of domestic woodburning stoves.

Why size matters?

Many kiln-dried firewood suppliers produce logs around 10 inches or longer, with diameters reaching up to 7-8 inches. Although producing larger logs allows processing machines to handle greater volumes for the supplier, they are often too large for many stoves or require customers to split them again before use.

At Angus Logs, we take a different approach. We believe that when customers buy Ready to Burn firewood, it should be ready to use, not a half finished product that requires further processing at home.

Producing smaller, more uniform logs can take longer. It is generally quicker for a processor to prioritise throughput and allow larger pieces to pass through, but that does not necessarily provide the best product for the end user.

Our focus is on delivering logs that are:

•Approximately 9 inches long
•Typically 3–5 inches in diameter
•Consistent and easy to handle
•Suitable for majority of woodburning stoves
•Ready to load, light and burn without further splitting

For customers, the result is a more convenient product: kiln-dried firewood that can go from delivery to stove with minimal additional work!
