We recently held our annual benevolent dinner at the The Anglers, Annan for retired employees. This popular event is a great chance for old colleagues to get together, share a meal and hear about some of the latest developments at Cochran.

This year the event was organised by Helen Slater and Vicki Henry, the guest speaker was Eric Daglish and Grace was given by James Lynn.

Thank you to our suppliers and industry friends who kindly donated raffle prizes, James Ramsay, Brown Macfarlane, McQuillan Boiler Services, Siemens, Johnny Walker and TC Fluid. Decoration provided by MACC Designs.

When you've been in business since 1878 there are no shortage of interesting historical photos and stories. At Cochran we've been good at keeping records of our progress throughout the years but it's really special when people get in touch with their own memories and pictures.

This image was shared by the daughter of a former employee and was taken at a factory open day in 1960. We'll be sharing more of this story soon but in the meantime enjoy a trip down memory lane.

Exciting news, we've been shortlisted at the Made in Scotland Awards 2026!

We were delighted to hear we had been selected in three business categories from what was described as a record number of entries. We're especially happy to say that our Chief Engineer, David Young, has also been recognised in the Engineer/Leader of the Year category.

The team are looking forward the awards ceremony in Glasgow on the 8th of October to find out the winners. Congratulations to all the businesses who have been shortlisted this year.

New vacancies listed on our website this week:

Service Engineer (Grade 3) - This is a field based role for an experienced boiler engineer. You'll be visiting customer sites to repair, service and maintain steam and hot water boilers as well as their associated burners and control systems.

Service Desk Co-Ordinator - Working from our Newbie office you'll you’ll play a key role in managing service requests, co-ordinating engineers and maintaining accurate service records. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage a busy workload are essential for this role.

In Cochran's long history apprentices have been a vital part of the business. We've always got a number of apprentices at different stages of their training and today we want to recognise some qualifications amongst the team.

Todd McMath and Daniel Nunes both completed their welding apprenticeships earlier this year and were presented with certificates for their efforts.

Zak Adams completed his pipefitting apprentice and Hayden Shaw and Ross Smith both came to and of their mechanical fitting apprenticeships. All received certificates and we'd like to wish them all the best as they continue to develop in their careers.
