Aaron is another apprentice who started his time with Shared Apprentice Ltd and is finishing his time working with Derek McNulty Joiners. I asked Aaron about his apprenticeship experience and he said;

“I have got on well throughout my apprenticeship, I have learnt a lot through my time and I have had a good employer supporting me. I have come on a lot with my skills and knowledge throughout the 4 years, and it has helped me grow up as well. I am grateful for the experience”

Aaron also completed his Skills Test with full marks! Well done Aaron! Looking forward to seeing what your future has in store for you!👷🏽⚒️.

Could you be the next employer to give another young person the opportunity to have a successful career just like Aaron & Ronnie? If so, give me a call today to discuss options!

Ronnie is due to complete his apprenticeship in September, he originally started his apprenticeship with Shared Apprentice Ltd before moving to Derek McNulty Joiners when SAL shut down. Ronnie recently completed his Skills Test with full marks and yesterday I asked him about his apprenticeship experience:

“I have enjoyed the last 4 years of my apprenticeship, I’m sad it is over but I’m looking forward to the future. I am glad I have completed my apprenticeship, I have had good support from my employer and I feel I have learnt a lot from the work I have done. I feel it has helped me mature a bit over the last 4 years too”

Ronnie and Aaron often work together as a team now as they both come to the end of their time, Aaron’s take on his apprenticeship is coming tomorrow!

Well done Ronnie and all you have achieved! The finish line is in sight!👷🏽⚒️

Charlie has been doing his apprenticeship with Derek McNulty Joiners, he is coming to the end of his 4th year and is another one that completed his Skills Test with a great score! As with all my 4th years, I’m asking about their apprenticeship experience and this was Charlie’s take:

“I am glad I did my apprenticeship and I have good support from my journeymen and my employer. My joinery apprenticeship has not only taught me various skills on site but how to think for myself and maturity. I would recommend an apprenticeship as it gives you good opportunities for your future”

Another huge well done to Charlie and all he has achieved! You’ve got a bright future ahead of you!👷🏽⚒️

These amazing scores for the Skills Tests this year are not only the biggest testament to how fantastic the apprentices are, but how great it is for the local employers who are training these young people and giving them an opportunity!

Ben is a 4th year apprentice who has done his apprenticeship with Pert Bruce Construction Ltd, he passed his Skills Test last month with a fantastic mark and I was asking him today about how his apprenticeship has been, this was his response:

“I am glad that I have done my apprenticeship, it has given me something productive to focus on and something to strive for. My apprenticeship has given me discipline and as much as I have learnt from joinery, it’s also allowed for character development. I am really glad I have done my apprenticeship and if I could do it again, I would 100% do it. I have learnt a lot throughout my apprenticeship and I am very grateful to Pert Bruce for the opportunity. I’ve had a great variety of work and done various things from Sunnyside to Council work, there has been lots to learn”

Huge Well Done to Ben! Looking forward to seeing what your future holds!👷🏽⚒️

Ben is coming to the end of his 2 year apprenticeship with Careston Carvings, he had previous experience in the trade before starting his apprenticeship in 2024 so this allowed him to undertake a shorter apprenticeship! Ben had this to say about his apprenticeship:

“I have enjoyed learning my practical skills from others within the trade with years of experience and I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to anyone. I have enjoyed being able to earn while learning and building my skills through experience. I have really benefited from being able to do a 2 year apprenticeship with my previous experience as it’s allowed me to get my qualifications quicker”

Ben has his Skills Test coming up so a huge Good Luck to him! 🤞🏼

I will catch up with him and Sean one more time before their time is out in August and see what their plans are for the future! Steve has been a great support to both apprentices and it’s great to see a local company helping people get qualified as joiners!⚒️👷🏽‍♀️

Sean has now completed his Skills Test with full marks and is coming to the end of his time! Sean completed a full 4 year apprenticeship and this is what he had to say:

“I feel that I have learnt a lot throughout my apprenticeship and feeling more confident now that my time is nearly out. I have built good friendships throughout my apprenticeship and have had a good range of experience. I have worked on variety of projects throughout my apprenticeship which have all helped with my skills and knowledge of the trade. Overall, I am happy with what I have achieved”

Sean will be a fully qualified Joiner from August 2026 and it’s been great to watch his confidence and skills grow! Well done Sean in all you have achieved! 👷🏽⚒️

Today I was out seeing Steve from Careston Carvings with his 2 apprentices, they are both due to qualify in August of this year! I asked Steve about his experience of having apprentices and this is what he had to say:

“It has been interesting having both apprentices at the same time and it has come with its challenges trying to keep everyone busy and work yourself but I am hoping that it was all worth it as they come to the end of their time. Keeping everyone busy will always come with challenges but it has been a great achievement to see them both qualify”

Huge shout out to Steve for being a fantastic support to both Ben & Sean and helping them get to this point!

Ben and Sean both had their say and will be posted in the coming days! 👷🏽⚒️👷🏽
