Meet the lovely John Thorn, a local chap whose family have been in and around Andover for generations.

John’s late Wife, Daphne, tended to their garden and loved doing so. Daphne’s Father was also a Gardener by trade, and as she was born in January, was aptly named after the highly scented shrub. John would pop out into the garden and tell us stories of how he and Daphne would sit down by the river at the bottom of the garden and share a bottle of w**e together. His eyes would light up as he’d recount the good times, which would just make you want to hug him in all honesty.

Getting to know clients really is the best part of the job. I’m fortunate enough to be able to take time to converse with clients and gain some insight into their lives, experiences and memories, and I am honestly thankful for that.

Anyway, I digress, today aptly, would’ve been their 60th (Diamond) Wedding Anniversary. In John’s own words it’s bittersweet; but the way in which he spoke of Daphne and their time together, meeting at Hurstbourne Priors Choir as teenagers, where they would “make eyes at each other” is just beautiful.

Anyway, I just wanted say Happy Anniversary and share John’s lovely smile and history. I know he’ll be with family later, raising a toast 🥂
