Structural glazing creates new connections between the historic architecture and contemporary spa facilities at Eden Hall in Nottinghamshire.

As part of the restoration and extension of the Grade II listed building, IQ Projects delivered specialist glazing for both the outdoor spa entrance and the new botanical brasserie.

The glazed link to the outdoor spa combines a three sided glass structure, structural glass roof and automated sliding doors, providing direct access to the pool while helping to maintain stable internal temperatures throughout the year.

For the botanical brasserie, structural glass and steel were used to recreate the character of the original glasshouse, which was lost after a Lancaster bomber crashed in an adjacent field in 1942. A pitched structural glass roof and glazed walls create a light filled dining space connected to the spa gardens.

The result is a carefully coordinated glazing package that improves movement between the interior and exterior spaces while respecting the character and history of the listed building.

A 38m run of frameless structural glazing creates pitch wide views from the first floor events space at Bught Stadium in Inverness.

Designed for the new pavilion, the two storey building brings together a ground floor Shinty museum with a first floor hall for spectating and events, supporting both match day use and wider community activity.

IQ Projects designed, engineered and installed the complete stadium glazing package, with the first floor elevation formed from long runs of silicone jointed structural glass to minimise vertical sightlines and preserve uninterrupted views across the pitch.

The wider package also included slim framed sliding doors, thermally broken aluminium entrance doors, casement windows and roof glazing.

The result is a carefully detailed glazing package that supports clear views, public circulation and thermal comfort within a modern sports and community venue.

Frameless eaves windows at Seacroft Hospital in Leeds demonstrate how specialist glazing can transform a roof-edge junction into a precise architectural detail.

Designed for the Rob Burrow Centre, a specialist motor neurone disease care facility, the glazing package focused on daylight, calm interior conditions and a less institutional architectural language.

IQ Projects designed and installed 11 repeated eaves glazing assemblies, each combining a full height structural glass pane with fixed roof glazing above.

The direct glass-to-glass junction allows daylight to reach the building edge while avoiding a heavier framed transition, creating a cleaner and more considered perimeter detail.

The result is a repeatable frameless glazing solution that supports both the technical performance of the healthcare envelope and the architectural intent of the building.

The sensitive transformation of Papple Steading in East Lothian demonstrates how specialist architectural glazing can support the reuse of historic agricultural buildings.

Located near Haddington on the edge of the Lammermoor Hills, the Grade B listed farm steading has been redeveloped into a mixed-use cultural destination, incorporating accommodation, gallery spaces, event areas and cultural facilities.

Designed by Richard Murphy Architects, the project required a careful balance between preserving the original stone structures and introducing contemporary glazing to improve daylight, views and usability.

IQ Projects designed, supplied and installed bespoke oriel windows, carefully set within the existing masonry to create framed views while maintaining the integrity of the historic facade.

The glazing package also included a fire rated walk-on glass floor, supporting the conversion of the former agricultural buildings into contemporary gallery and event spaces.

The result is a precise, sensitive glazing intervention that enhances the building’s new use while respecting its heritage character.

Bailiffgate Hotel in Alnwick, Northumberland, demonstrates how frameless structural glazing can create a sensitive connection between heritage architecture and contemporary hotel design.

The five star boutique hotel project transforms a Grade II listed Georgian building through careful restoration and a modern extension, designed by MawsonKerr Architects.

The IQ Projects Northern division, designed, supplied and installed the specialist glazing package forming the central glazed link between the historic building and new extension.

Frameless windows preserve views towards Alnwick Castle while allowing natural light to move through the connection space, with marine grade finished aluminium framing specified for durability in the coastal location.

The result is a carefully resolved glazing intervention that supports circulation, performance and architectural clarity within a sensitive heritage setting.

From heritage sensitive structural glazing in Cheltenham to coastal facades in North Wales and large scale glazing packages in The Wirral, each scheme demonstrates a different response to the same wellbeing led approach.

And with the new Maggie’s Centre in Liverpool now underway, this work continues in another important setting.

Following the delivery of Maggie’s Centres in Cheltenham, The Wirral and North Wales, IQ Projects is pleased to be involved in the next Maggie's Centres now underway in Liverpool.

The new centre will provide free practical, emotional and psychological support for people affected by cancer across Merseyside.

Designed by HB Architects and funded by the Steve Morgan Foundation, the building continues Maggie’s commitment to architecture that supports wellbeing through light, connection and carefully considered space.

IQ Projects will deliver the specialist glazing package in collaboration with Wynne construction, including slim sliding doors, aluminium casement windows and Invisio® structural glazing with a curved pane - helping to shape a bright, welcoming environment connected to its surroundings.

We look forward to supporting the delivery of another important Maggie’s Centre later this year.

Open corner sliding doors define the facade at Maggie's Centres North Wales, creating clear, wide openings that strengthen the connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape.

When fully opened, the corner detail disappears entirely - improving circulation and allowing direct access to outdoor areas that are central to the centre’s day-to-day use.

Combined with large format glazing, solar control glass and external timber shading, the envelope balances openness with comfort in a coastal environment.

Delivered in collaboration with Wynne construction, the result is a glazing strategy that supports both architectural clarity and user wellbeing.

A closer look at the automated glass entrance and structural glazing installed at Hereford Cathedral, creating a calm and highly transparent threshold within a historic architectural setting.

IQ Projects designed and installed a new glazed entrance solution for the cathedral, combining an automated four-leaf sliding door with adjacent structural glass screens.

The intervention was developed to improve visitor flow, accessibility and clarity at the threshold while preserving the character and visual calm of the surrounding cloisters.

Low-iron, non-reflective glass and minimal detailing allow the new entrance to sit quietly within the existing fabric, while bespoke interfaces to the supporting structure keep junctions crisp and discreet.

The result is a contemporary glazing intervention that enhances daily use without competing with the architecture itself.

A closer look at the frameless glass draft lobby installed within The Pitt Building in Cambridge, creating a modern environmental buffer within one of the city’s most significant historic buildings.

IQ Projects delivered two internal frameless glass draft lobbies within this Grade I listed academic and civic landmark as part of a wider refurbishment by and Morrison. The interventions were designed to improve thermal performance and accessibility while preserving the openness, material character and sense of arrival within the historic interior.

The double-height frameless glass lobby creates a transparent threshold at the main entrance, reducing draughts and heat loss without visually subdividing the reception spaces. By using structural glass and minimal detailing, the new lobbies sit quietly within the architecture, allowing the building’s original fabric to remain the focus.
