Why are roofers scared of being on a roof nowadays 😭👇

Few years ago this was just called getting the job done.

Now apparently you need a full scaffold, 14 risk assessments and permission from the King before you touch it 😂

Roofers, are you actually scaffolding this job or getting the ladders out? 👀

01/09/2026

Apparently THIS needs scaffolding… 😂👇

We were told you’d need a full scaffold just to get this job done safely.

We had other ideas.

No scaffold. No massive setup. Just the job getting done.

We did save the customer thousands.

Roofers, be honest. Would you scaffold or are you scared of roofs?

This is why jet washing a roof is USELESS 😭👇

It looks brilliant for the camera.

Years of dirt disappear in seconds, dirty water everywhere, instant before and after…

But there’s a reason we’d rather scrape the heavy moss off by hand and treat the roof afterwards.

A jet washer is aggressive and can force water into places you really don’t want it, especially if the roof already has damaged tiles, weak pointing or other defects.

Scraping also means we’re actually on the roof inspecting it as we work. 👀

Cracked tile? We see it.

Loose ridge? We see it.

Problem around the flashing? We see it.

Then once the bulk of the moss is removed, we clear the gutters and apply a biocide treatment to tackle the remaining biological growth and help slow regrowth.

But apparently taking longer and doing it properly is “old fashioned” now 😂

Roof cleaners, I already know what the comments are going to look like…

Anyone can blast a roof with a jet washer… THIS takes actual work 😭👇

And this is exactly why we still scrape roofs by hand.

Tile by tile. Moss actually removed. Gutters cleared. Roof inspected as we go.

Could we turn up with a jet washer and blast through it quicker?

Probably.

But quicker doesn’t automatically mean better. 😂

The satisfying part isn’t even watching the moss come off…

It’s seeing how much was actually hiding underneath it. 😳

Then once the heavy growth is removed, the roof can be treated with biocide to deal with remaining biological growth and help slow it coming straight back.

So let’s settle it:

They wanted £900 for scaffolding… we did the WHOLE job off ladders 😂👇

And here’s the final result.

Old soffits and fascias out.

New ones fitted.

Job finished.

No £900 scaffolding bill added to the customer’s quote.

Apparently that’s controversial now 😭

Before every roofer in Britain starts typing…

Yes, scaffolding has its place.

But automatically adding hundreds or thousands to a customer’s bill when the job can be completed using another appropriate access method?

We’ll let the comments decide that one

The best part is the customer gets exactly the same finished result without paying £900 just for us to get up there.

Roofers, are you putting scaffolding up for this or doing it from ladders? 👇

Roofers will call this “dangerous” while adding £2,000 of scaffolding to YOUR bill 😂👇

Soffits and fascias coming out.

Three ladders.

Two roofers.

Don’t get us wrong, scaffolding absolutely has its place.

But when did it become the automatic answer to every single job?

If the work can be accessed appropriately without it, why should the homeowner automatically pick up another massive bill?

Watch what happens when the old soffit and fascia comes away… 😳

Some roofers will watch this and call us cowboys.

Others will know exactly what we’re doing.

Roofers, are you doing this from ladders or putting a scaffold up? 👇

If your roofers are still getting on a ladder to look at your roof, tell them to get with the times.

I recently had a client who's "old fashioned" roofer quoted them to replace a whole section of the roof because a loft inspection and gutter line look over suggested major deterioration on the tiles & felt. ☎️

The real problem was sooo much simpler.

1 ridge had a hole in the top and water was getting underneath the first lauer of defence, creating damp inside! 🤓

They would've paid multiple thousands to fix a problem that would've continued regardless if how much they spent! ❌️

Real Roofers don't slap access fees onto quotes just for giggles. 👎

I don't get it.

If it's a 2 story property, your basically a meter off the ground, just jump on a ladder like the original roofers did! 👷‍♂️

When did roofers become health and safety NERDS? 👇

No beuno ❌️

19/08/2026

Its a shame the neighbour wasn't told- she just spent £1,700.00 on a 2 story scafold for what my client got for free!

And it's such an easy job to do (when you've got the right attitude and roofing skills to go with!) 👷‍♂️

Stop waiting your money everyone!

18/08/2026

How did we do it?

Well, I shall tell you.

We saved this client about £2.2k in scafolding by using 2x ladders and a portable tower unit. 👌

0 access costs for the client, and a beautiful new set of shiny white soffits and fascias! 🙏

Perfectly done as well I might add... 🫡
