VIR cable ⚡️

One of the worst types of old wiring you can come across.

This property had VIR cable throughout. The rubber insulation had deteriorated badly over the years and was brittle and crumbling away in places.

VIR was commonly used in properties from around the 1920s–1950s and, after 60–100 years, you can see exactly what happens to the insulation.

Once you start disturbing it, the rubber can literally fall apart, leaving the conductors with little or no effective insulation.

This was the reason for the full rewire on this property. The old VIR was removed and the installation replaced, tested and certified to the current requirements of BS 7671.

Two full rewires recently completed in Sale and Wythenshawe ⚡️

We’ll be back out quoting from this week onwards. Apologies to anyone who has experienced delays or cancellations with quotations recently — we had to prioritise completing these projects.

We’re a small, hands-on electrical company. We don’t have office staff or separate teams carrying out quotations and installations — I personally handle the quotations, paperwork and, most importantly, the actual electrical work.

Keeping the business structured this way allows us to keep our overheads down and, in turn, offer competitive pricing compared with many other local electrical contractors.
