As temperatures rise, drainage systems can begin experiencing a different type of pressure. Root intrusion, organic debris and restricted flow can all become more noticeable during the warmer months.

Our blog explores how seasonal growth affects drainage systems and what site managers should look for.

Culverts play an important role in protecting roads, tracks and drainage systems across rural land. Although they are rarely visible, they help carry water beneath access routes and prevent erosion or water build-up.

When culverts become blocked, the effects can extend well beyond the drainage system itself.

We have shared some guidance on why culvert inspections are important and when they should be carried out.

We have invested in advanced CCTV drain inspection technology, including a new iPEK crawler system, to support a major new commercial drainage contract across the South East.

The new system strengthens our ability to inspect larger and more complex drainage networks, helping clients identify issues earlier and plan maintenance more effectively.

Today we attended the England & Wales Blind Golf Association Golf Day at Weybrook Park Golf Club, which Drain & Sewer Services is proud to sponsor.

The day brought together players, guides and coaches to support inclusivity in golf and encourage more people to get involved in the game.

It was fantastic to see coaching sessions led by Sky Sports Golf commentator and coach to DP World Tour winner Richard Bland, Tim Barter, alongside PGA professionals Steve Cox and Steve Ward.

A brilliant day and a great example of how golf can be made accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Many drainage issues begin in places that are rarely seen. Culverts carry water beneath roads, tracks and access routes as part of wider drainage systems. When debris, sediment or vegetation restricts water flow, problems can quickly develop.

Over time this may lead to:

• erosion around access roads
• pooling water near tracks
• damage to surrounding drainage infrastructure

Regular inspection helps identify issues early and protects access routes across rural land and estates.

Every commercial kitchen produces fats, oils and grease as part of daily service. Without the right controls in place, these by-products can solidify in pipework and cause blockages, smells and even full drainage failures. A single blocked drain can force a kitchen to close, damage hygiene standards and interrupt service at the worst possible time.

Our blog explains how FOG builds up, why grease traps need regular maintenance and what businesses can do to stay compliant with environmental regulations. Good grease management protects your kitchen, your customers and your reputation.

Sediment build-up, damaged pipework and saturated ground can all affect drainage performance after a prolonged wet period.

Our article explains the drainage issues that commonly appear after winter and why early inspection can help avoid larger problems.

Sustainable drainage systems are becoming a defining part of new housing and commercial developments. With new national standards now in place and legal requirements coming into force for housing projects, developers need to demonstrate that surface water has been properly managed from the start.

SuDS reduce flood risk, support planning approval and help future-proof developments against changing weather patterns. Our blog breaks down the key components of SuDS and the practical steps developers should take when integrating them into project planning.
