We’re delighted to see the Play In Golf Centre in Cheadle Hulme now open and thriving. Arkhi was pleased to be involved during the planning stages of the project, and it’s fantastic to see the vision brought to life.

Keepers Cottage – The Glass Link

A key architectural feature of Keepers Cottage is the glazed link that seamlessly connects the existing cottage with the new-build extension.

More than just a circulation space, the glass link forms the main entrance to the home and houses the staircase providing access to the first floor. The impressive double-height volume creates a light-filled transition between the old and new elements of the property, celebrating the relationship between the two buildings.

At first-floor level, the space is bridged by a balcony walkway, connecting the existing cottage with the new-build accommodation while offering views through the glazed structure and out to the surrounding landscape.

The glass link serves as both a functional and architectural focal point, carefully designed to unite the different parts of the home while enhancing the sense of openness, light, and connection throughout the project.

Currently in the design stage, this project explores spatial planning through the careful zoning of private and social spaces.

The layout begins with a more introverted architectural expression, creating a sense of privacy and enclosure on arrival, before gradually transitioning into a more extroverted open-plan setting with expansive views and a mezzanine space that enhances openness, light, and connectivity throughout the home.

A sensitive and characterful renovation of a Grade II listed barn, carefully designed to retain and celebrate the building’s existing openings while maximising the spectacular views across the surrounding landscape.

Our clients were looking to downsize from their family home and create a space better suited to their lifestyle as they grow older. The barn offered the perfect opportunity, transforming an existing agricultural building into a thoughtful one-bedroom dwelling that embraces its elevated setting and connection to the countryside.

As this project progresses through the planning stage, we’re excited to see the vision for Ewe Farm begin to take shape and look forward to bringing this thoughtful renovation to life.
