It’s a side of our work we don’t shout about enough—but following a series of planning approvals and listed building consents, we thought it was time to share more.

Whether it's internal alterations, sensitive extensions or listed barn conversions, we help clients unlock the potential of historic buildings while respecting the character that makes them special.

Our approach combines thoughtful design with detailed heritage and supporting information, presenting a clear, considered case for each proposal. This has helped us secure consent for some ambitious projects, demonstrating what can be achieved with the right approach.

Sometimes a little goes a long way…

For this project, we explored both single and two storey extensions before deciding that the greatest potential lay within the existing footprint—reimagining the property as a charming country home.

This approach keeps the works aligned with our clients’ budget while allowing for a full internal refurbishment, creating a more comfortable, energy efficient home designed around their needs for years to come.

Alongside the internal transformation, carefully chosen changes to the external materials will refresh the frontage, enhance its character and deliver that all-important kerb appeal.

Keeping it in the family!

Today, we’re revisiting one of our earlier projects after receiving a new instruction from the parents of this previous client! They’ve asked us to provide design advice for their own renovation project, and we’re excited to begin helping them bring their ideas to life.

Flat roofs don’t have to be boring.

This proposed single-storey rear extension combines a contemporary flat roof with a traditional oak frame, creating a warm and characterful addition to the home.

The decorative oak fascia and generous roof overhang add a beautiful detail while also helping to provide solar shading during the warmer months. A roof lantern introduces even more natural daylight into the extended living space, helping it feel bright, spacious and connected to the garden.

With the right proportions, materials and detailing, a flat roof can be both practical and attractive

Project Dallicott:

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of returning to one of our completed projects to see the finished product and catch up with our wonderful client. Already a beautiful property with so much character our goal was to combine old and new whilst introducing more natural daylight and create a more functional usable space.

The two storey side extension allowed for a larger and more sociable kitchen space and formal dining area, as well as providing a through floor lift for access to the new first floor master suite with dedicated dressing area and ensuite.

Whilst the single storey orangery floods the kitchen with natural daylight and offers a space to sit with a coffee overlooking the garden and farmers fields ☕

PLANNING APPROVED ✅
Thrilled to have received planning approval this week for one our largest specialist adaptation projects to date!

Replacing an existing tired dormer bungalow with a new purpose built ultra efficient modern home. Offering a fully accessible home, the property is tailored to our clients individual needs including carer’s accommodation and dedicated therapy space as well as plenty of room for the family.

Thank you to the fantastic team that helped get this over the line, particularly for helping to formulate the strategy leading to this stunning new home 🏡

Now on to the detailed drawings and tender package ready for a 2027 start date!

Full Construction Package completed for this new build dwelling near Newport. We pride ourselves in helping our clients with all aspects of their project and with a new build homes there is a lot to consider.

We work alongside a number of trusted consultants to provide structural and civil design, mechanical and electrical layouts, including renewable technology, introductions to warranty providers and trusted building control inspectors as well as SAP calculations and EPC's.
