Some finishes just aren't a roller job.

Panelling, slatted feature walls, media rooms, curved or detailed joinery — anywhere the surface isn't flat and uninterrupted, a roller struggles to get a clean, even result. Grooves, edges and tight detail either get missed or end up looking patchy.

That's where spraying comes in. Airless and HVLP spraying get into the detail properly, giving a smooth, factory-level finish across panelling, slatting and other awkward surfaces that brushes and rollers can't handle well.

It's the difference between a finish that looks applied and one that looks built in.

WT Decor have completed the first phase of the renovation at The Kirklands, part of the Avonbridge Hotel in Hamilton, covering wallpapering, panelling and painting throughout.

The goal was to bring the building up to modern standards while holding onto its original charm and we think phase one strikes that balance well.

The last trade, the first impression.

Decorating is one of the last trades onto a commercial site, and one of the first things anyone notices once it's finished.

Nobody walks into a completed building and inspects the steelwork or the ductwork. They look at the walls, the lines, the detail. Fair or not, decorating shapes a client's first impression of the whole job.

Which is worth remembering, because it's usually the part that gets squeezed when time is short at the end of a programme. A rushed finish, thin preparation or a last-minute scramble for labour can undo months of good work in the final week.

The fix isn't complicated: plan the decorating phase in early, book labour you can rely on, and don't let prep get rushed.

Our Ames taping and plastering gets surfaces flat, smooth and ready to take a proper finish. Done well, it cuts out rework, keeps the programme on track, and lifts the standard of everything that goes on top. We work in step with the other trades, so the decorating stage is never left waiting.

Good preparation isn't an added cost, it's what stops the expensive problems later.

Cladding often takes the full force of the weather here in Scotland.

Exterior cladding is exposed to constant wear from UV, rain, and general weathering and over time, that shows up as fading, discolouration or an early sign of corrosion at panel joints and fixings.

In a lot of cases, the panels themselves are still structurally sound; it's the surface coating that's given up.

That's where spraying comes in. Rather than replacing panels, we apply specialist coatings suited to the cladding material, restoring appearance and rebuilding protection against UV, moisture and general weathering, without the cost or disruption of a full replacement.

It's a faster and more cost-effective way to bring a tired-looking building back up to standard, while extending the life of the cladding underneath.
