Their garden was small. Small enough that they’d written the idea off before they called us.
3m x 2.7m is the footprint. It sounds tiny until you’re stood in it. Sliding doors down one side, a full-height window, and enough floor for a proper working room rather than a corner with a desk shoved in it.
She’s a therapist, so it had to work for clients as well as for her. Somewhere quiet, warm and separate, with a door that isn’t the front door of the house.
And they’ve still got a garden. That’s the bit people don’t expect. A room only takes over the plot if it’s been designed off a standard drawing instead of around the space you’ve actually got.
Finished in Thermalwood, a thermally treated timber that weathers beautifully and is built to stay outside.
Nine working days on site. All that’s left is the decorating, and that’s their bit.
