Blocked underfloor heating manifold getting some much-needed attention 👇
Over time, low temperature heating systems like underfloor heating can become the perfect environment for sludge, biofilm, and bacteria to build up—especially if the system isn’t designed or maintained properly.
Because these systems run at lower temperatures than traditional radiators, they don’t always reach levels that naturally kill off bacteria. That means any contamination (from installation, poor water quality, or lack of inhibitors) can settle in and grow, leading to:
• Blocked manifolds
• Reduced heat output
• Cold spots across the floor
• Increased wear on pumps and components
This is why good design and regular maintenance are critical:
✔ Proper system flushing and commissioning from day one
✔ Use of quality inhibitors to prevent bacterial growth
✔ Correct filtration (mag filters, strainers, etc.)
✔ Routine servicing to keep everything flowing as it should
