From an unused garage to an accessible living space!

A garage conversion can do so much more than create extra room. It can help make your home work better for your changing needs.

For this project, we transformed a garage into a practical, accessible ground-floor space, complete with a cosy bedroom and a level-access ensuite. The result? Greater comfort, improved accessibility and more independence at home.

At Taylor-Made Mobility, we take care of the details, managing the project from start to finish to create a space that works for the people living in it.

Back Care Awareness Week: Could your home be making life harder?

When you’re living with chronic back pain, everyday tasks can become surprisingly difficult.

While we often think about managing back pain through exercise, treatment or medication, simple changes to how you organise your space can help make everyday movement safer and easier.

This Back Care Awareness Week, we’re looking at how thoughtful home adaptations help people living with chronic back pain maintain comfort, independence and confidence at home.

What do we look at during an accessibility assessment?

Every home, and every person, is different. That's why an accessibility assessment starts with understanding how you actually use your home?

🏡 How you move around:
We identify where movement could be made easier or safer.

🚿 Your bathroom:
We consider how you get in and out of the bath or shower, use the toilet and whether additional support is needed.

🪑 Everyday activities:
We look at the things you need to do every day and where you may be experiencing difficulties.

⚠️ Potential risks:
We look for areas where slips, trips, falls or difficulty reaching fixtures could create problems.

🔮 Your future needs:
We can also consider how your needs might change over time and how your home could adapt with you.

Most importantly, we listen. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to accessibility.

Whether you need a small change or are considering a larger adaptation, we'll help you understand your options.

When an accessible bathroom becomes an emergency, time matters. 🆘

Sometimes, a bathroom adaptation can’t wait.

That was the situation with this project. Our client needed a safer, more accessible shower solution fast.

But working quickly doesn’t mean cutting corners. It means coordinating the design, products, and installation carefully, communicating clearly and ensuring every detail is right.

We understand that circumstances can change suddenly. A change in mobility can turn an adaptation from a future plan into an urgent need.

We promise we’ll work with you to find a solution, a timeframe, and the right approach for your circumstances. 💙

📣 New case study: an accessible bathroom designed around real life.

Our latest accessible bathroom renovation is a great example of how thoughtful design can bring together accessibility, practicality and style.

The result? A bathroom that is easier to use, built for the future and still feels like a beautiful part of the home. 🛖

Take a look at the full case study to see how we approached the project and the finished result: https://taylormademobility.co.uk/projects/abingdon-walk-in-shower-installation/

This project involved a walk-in shower installation at short notice to support a customer returning home from hospital following surgery.

What is a level access shower? 🚿❓

If you’ve come across the term *level access shower* but aren’t quite sure what it means, you’re not alone.

Put simply, it’s a shower designed with no step or raised edge to climb over. The shower floor is level with the surrounding bathroom floor, making it easier to walk or wheel into the shower.

This can make a real difference for anyone who finds stepping into a traditional shower difficult, whether because of reduced mobility, balance concerns, a disability or simply because they want a bathroom that will be easier to use in the future.

At Taylor Made Mobility, we design accessible bathrooms around the person using them, combining safety, practicality and thoughtful design.

🏡 Coming home from hospital should be something to look forward to — but is your home ready for you?

After an operation, illness, injury or change in mobility, everyday things around the home can suddenly become much more difficult

That’s where the right home adaptations can make a real difference.

Our latest blog looks at hospital discharge support and how thoughtful changes to the home — from accessible bathrooms and level-access showers to stairlifts and wider mobility adaptations — can help people return home safely, comfortably and with greater independence.
