Going away this Bank Holiday? 🌞

Whether you're heading to the Big Tribute Festival, escaping Aberystwyth for the long weekend or making the most of the Bank Holiday, take a few minutes to check your electrics before you leave.

Switch off what you don't need: Where appropriate, switch off or unplug unnecessary appliances and devices. This can reduce standby energy use and means you're not leaving equipment powered unnecessarily while the house is empty.

Know what needs to stay ON: CCTV, alarms and security lighting may need to remain powered to protect your property while you're away. Be careful not to accidentally switch them off.

Don't ignore warning signs: Unusually hot sockets, burning smells, buzzing or repeated tripping can be signs of an electrical fault.

Large-scale EICRs underway at The Royal Pier, Aberystwyth. 🔌

Last week, Aiden and Steve were carrying out EICRs across The Royal Pier, testing the safety and condition of the electrical installation throughout the building.
This included the arcade, nightclub, snooker hall and multiple bars.

For a venue of this size, electrical testing needs careful planning. Some areas needed to be cleared for power downs, but for a busy business like The Pier, disruption during normal opening hours could have affected both customers and revenue.

To reduce disruption, Aiden and Steve carried out the testing outside of normal business hours, starting their days at 6am to help keep the venue operating safely and smoothly.

A lot of caffeine was consumed along the way! ☕

Did you know that rental properties in Wales are required have an electrical inspection condition report (EICR) every 5 years, or sooner if your previous report specifies an earlier re-inspection date?

We recently upgraded this old distribution board to a fully RCBO protected Elucian board, after the previous failed its EICR.

If your sockets are warm, discoloured, buzzing, or creating a burning smell, these could be warning signs that something is seriously wrong.

Gogs vs faulty maglock 🔓

The Gogs cam caught footage of his recent installation of a replacement maglock at The Royal Pier. The gate now closes and locks as it should, restoring important access control and security.

No maglock is left unrepaired when Gogs is around.
