With planting behind us we are into weeding and maintenance season. So many jobs to get on with to help the trees grow and keep the sites tidy. Jobs include hook and mechanical and chemical weeding, stake and shelter maintenance including removing old ones to be recycled. Pruning and respacing and general jobs like flail mowing, tidying fallen trees and fence repairs.

Just last week we finished our 10th planting season. As always it's tough but rewarding. Over 300000 this season and over 2.5 million since we started. Thanks to my team for their dedication to producing a high standard and our clients for their support. Only 5 months till we go again!!!

Great day First Aid Training today. It's essential for us to be able to look after ourselves and each other out in the forest. Today's event hosted by Bronwin Abbey and led by Marcus at Realism Training was hands on !!

A long time since I passed any exams ! I am now qualified at technical level in the Instutute of Chartered Foresters.

Educational day today ! We showed forestry students from Black Mountains College around some of the woods at Llangoed estate. Myself and Ella Harris from Bronwin Abbey talked about how the estate forests are managed admnd operations.

Our last post celebrating
Here at Aber Forestry we are all about sustainable Forestry. Not just planting trees but maintaing them through the stages until thinning. Also caring for the forests in general to make them a better place. These photos are just a few showing what we do in thousands of hectares of forest.

Sustainable woodlands is what we are about at Aber Forestry. We thinned this larch 8 years ago and has just been done again. High pruned the oak and now underplanted with hornbeam.

In 40 or 50 years time these young Douglas Fir will be as big as the ones behind them.

Planting parkland trees is always a pleasure. Hopefully these trees will live for generations to come and become amazing features on the landscape. In this case a Cedar of Lebanon.
