☕ PLANNING APPROVED | CATHAYS CEMETERY
We’re delighted to have secured planning permission for the regeneration of two redundant former toilet blocks within Cathays Cemetery, Cardiff, creating a new café and associated visitor facilities.
The proposal gives both long-disused buildings a new lease of life. The first will be transformed into a new café, while the second will be refurbished to provide modern WC facilities to support the café and visitors to the cemetery.
At the heart of the project is reuse rather than replacement — retaining the existing buildings, improving their appearance and carefully adapting them for a new purpose within this important historic setting.
It’s a great example of how even small, overlooked buildings can be transformed into something that makes a positive contribution to their surroundings and the people who use them.
Two redundant buildings. One new purpose.
