Following on from our ‘notable interventions’ post, I think it would be amiss not to highlight the team that make what we do for our clients so effective.

Led by Kenny, who has steered our ship for over 33 years, and who leads from the front, often being out on the quayside himself as well as being our client focal point on a daily basis.

Our team:

Andy Buchan - 14+ years service to Swan & Co. with previous experience as a tank cleaning supervisor.

Darren McAllister - 16+ years service to Swan & Co. with previous experience as a brine engineer.

Graham Bremner - 16+ years service to Swan & Co. with previous experience as a vessel tank cleaner.

Mike Reid - 15+ years experience with Swan & Co. with previous experience as an offshore cementer & dry bulk specialist.

Robbie Davidson - 26+ years service to Swan & Co. with previous experience as a fluids engineer.

Stewart Craighead - 14+ years service to Swan & Co. with previous experience as an onshore/offshore chemical specialist.

This amounts to over 100 years of experience, awareness, knowledge, commitment, loyalty…

In any industry, this level of loyalty is virtually unheard of. We are blessed to have such a dedicated team that knows all there is to know about Marine Surveying and every curveball it can throw at us.

This loyalty hasn’t been created by chance, it exists because of how we are treated as employees. We are respected and valued, as both industry professionals and probably more importantly, as people. The right working environment cultivates a willingness in people to work hard and work with integrity and that is exactly what we have here at Swan & Co.

Our interventions save our clients thousands of £££ each month.

These interventions tend to go unnoticed as it’s all part of our role as surveyors. Our end goal is always to provide the safest and most efficient outcome for our clients regardless of how big or sensitive the operation.

Every day issues crop up, and if we missed them it would cost our clients time, money and production. Our team experience and knowledge ensures that we miss absolutely nothing!

A prime example happened at the end of the week. A specific product was ordered to be loaded to a client vessel and arrived on site ready to be delivered. Our pre-operation cross-referencing and due diligence quickly established that the tanker on site contained a completely different product. The result if we allowed the loading of the wrong product would have been costly, time consuming and quite frankly a disaster for our client. Stewart quickly corrected the mistake and arranged for the correct product to be delivered to the quayside.

Well done, Stewart… for doing your job as always.

For reference, over the course of the year so far we have recorded 144 of these ‘notable interventions’ for our clients. Experience matters, and we have over 100 years worth.

Darren, our QHSE Manager, holds a Level 3 Award in Education & Training which he gained through 2020 Safety Training.

We offer a wide range of training requirements either on our client’s site or in our own training centre at Regent Quay.

The boss was out and about this afternoon carrying out system reinstatement inspections. A successful vessel visit which provided critical guidance to the vessel owners and crew that will ultimately result in the vessel being fit and ready for charter.
