Police are encouraging residents in Aberdeen to remain vigilant following reports of sub-standard work carried out by Roofing and Domestic Maintenance companies in the Northfield area.
The North East Division Crime Reduction Officer said ‘Beware of any company cold-calling, offering to make repairs or carry out work on your house, garden or driveway."
In reality, they charge inflated prices for shoddy or completely unnecessary work. We do not recommend dealing with cold-callers for property maintenance and repairs to your home and garden.’
‘Be on your guard if someone turns up unexpectedly. Ask yourself if your premises or garden require work to be carried out and remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
Be vigilant for vulnerable neighbours who may fall foul of these criminals. Don’t feel pressured into agreeing immediately to work being carried out and never pay cash upfront.
Should you require work to be carried out, always get quotes from other reputable established companies.
