A great project to be involved in at the Bannockburn Visitor Centre in Stirling, working alongside Simpson & Brown.

This video shows just how much detail we can capture using drone photogrammetry, from the visitor centre and surrounding landscape to the iconic Robert the Bruce statue at the end!

When working with historic buildings and landmarks, capturing accurate existing information is particularly important.

If you're an architect working on a heritage or conservation project, we'd love to hear about it and see how we can help.

Ever wondered what actually happens during a 1-hour survey with Archilink?

This video gives a quick look at the full process.

We start by LiDAR scanning the inside and outside of the house simultaneously, building up an accurate 3D point cloud as we go.

We then use the drone to capture any roof areas and details we can’t properly see from ground level, before using GPS to geolocate everything and tie all the survey data together.

For a typical house, we can usually have everything we need captured in around an hour, ready to turn into accurate drawings or a Revit model for your architect.

At Archilink, our London surveying team is now operating every week, with the capacity to survey up to three projects per day.

The video below demonstrates how we utilise drone-captured data to create highly accurate 3D models that closely follow the captured point cloud. From these models, we can efficiently extract precise 2D drawings, elevations, roof plans, and other survey information required for design and construction projects.

In London, drone surveying has become an essential part of our workflow. With so many properties having converted roof spaces, dormers, extensions, and complex roof geometries, capturing accurate information from ground level alone is often impossible. Drone data allows us to safely and efficiently record these inaccessible areas while significantly improving accuracy.

By combining drone capture, point cloud processing, and intelligent modelling workflows, we're able to deliver comprehensive survey information faster than ever.

We're lucky to work on some incredible buildings, and Ramsay Gardens is a great example.

Recently surveyed for Ossian Architects, this iconic Edinburgh landmark deserved a detailed approach to capture as much information as possible. On buildings like this, having accurate existing building information is key to supporting the design process.

A fantastic building and a pleasure to be involved.

Having already completed 165 surveys in 2026, our surveyor, Ben captured these photos while surveying the impressive Cupar Silo. This is a project he delivered from start to finish as a solo surveyor.

While clients see the final drawings, models and point clouds, it all starts with accurate site capture.

If you're an architect working on an interesting project and need measured surveys, laser scanning or existing building drawings, we'd love to hear from you.

For architects working across London, reliable existing building information is everything.

This Surrey scan-to-drawing workflow shows how we take a project from high-accuracy point cloud capture, through detailed modelling, and into 2D drawing packages.

The video demonstrates the full process:

• Reality capture on site
• Point cloud aligned directly to our model
• Accurate plans, sections and elevations extracted from verified geometry

The result is a far more dependable base for design, planning, refurbishment and coordination - helping reduce assumptions, minimise re-surveys, and avoid costly errors later in the project.

At Archilink we help architects move from existing conditions to workable drawing information quickly, accurately and with confidence.

We recently completed a pointcloud survey of the iconic Camera Obscura building on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile on behalf of CLWG Architects. Using aerial data capture and advanced reality capture workflows, we produced an accurate digital model and measured drawings of one of the city’s most complex historic buildings. With centuries of irregular alterations and challenging geometry, the structure would have been incredibly difficult to survey using traditional methods alone. Projects like this demonstrate how modern point cloud technology can unlock faster, safer, and far more precise documentation for heritage architecture.

At Archilink, we are always looking for ways to improve the accuracy and detail of our surveys. One of the key methods we now use on more than half of our projects is photogrammetry, a process that uses thousands of images to create highly detailed 3D models.

While ground-based LiDAR scanning is incredibly accurate, there are always small areas that can’t be fully captured from ground level. This is where photogrammetry plays a vital role. By capturing thousands of overlapping images, we can fill in the gaps and create a more complete and detailed representation of the building.

Our teams are currently producing around four photogrammetry models every day, and this number continues to grow as demand increases. This technique has become particularly useful for capturing roof information, which is often difficult or impossible to see clearly from the ground.

We are also seeing a rise in demand for orthomosaic elevations. These image-based outputs can offer a much higher level of visual detail than simplified AutoCAD drawings or even some 3D models, making them especially valuable for heritage sites or condition surveys.

By combining LiDAR and photogrammetry, we deliver more complete, accurate and useful survey data for every project.

This fly-through video shows how we capture accurate existing building data, followed by the final outputs delivered to the client — detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings and a 3D model.

Laser scanning provides architects with a precise foundation to design from, helping improve accuracy, reduce site visits, and support more efficient project delivery.
