Construction is nearing completion, and the project is entering its final phase. Over several
months, the work has focused on revealing the building’s existing qualities while carefully
introducing new architectural elements:
– restoration of the historic vaulted ceilings,
– consolidation of the original masonry,
– seamless integration of all technical systems,
– fabrication of bespoke curved joinery,
– application of breathable lime plaster,
– creation of a coffered oak ceiling incorporating lighting, heating, and air conditioning while
preserving the clarity of the historic interiors.
Matte terrazzo floors on the ground level and polished terrazzo in the lower gallery respond
to the changing qualities of daylight, enhanced by light wells that connect the garden with the
artists’ residency. Every detail reflects an ongoing dialogue between architectural heritage
and contemporary intervention.

A new exhibition space and artists’ residency in the heart of the Marais.
In autumn 2026, LXVIII RUE DES ARCHIVES will open its doors in the Marais district of
Paris. Conceived as both an exhibition space and an artists’ residency, the project is housed
in an seventeenth-century hôtel particulier, just a short walk from the Centre Pompidou.
Designed by ATTA - Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects, the project brings together
architecture, heritage, landscape, and contemporary creation in a setting where indoor and
outdoor spaces engage in a seamless dialogue. Combining an exhibition space, garden,
artists’ residency, LXVIII RUE DES ARCHIVES offers an environment conducive to
reflection, experimentation, and exchange among artists, curators, collectors, and the public.
More than an exhibition venue, the project is envisioned as a curatorial platform where
artworks and ideas can evolve over time, fostering lasting encounters within the international
contemporary art scene.

In the heart of the Marais, within a seventeenth-century hôtel particulier, we envisioned a
place where architecture quietly steps aside, allowing art, light, and time to take center
stage.
Designed by ATTA – Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects, the project by Tsuyoshi Tane’s
concept of Archaeology of the Future, revealing the site’s memory while shaping its future.
Located within the protected Marais Conservation and Enhancement Plan (PSMV), every
intervention was conceived with restraint: the restoration of historic vaults, lime plaster
finishes, bespoke joinery, a coffered oak ceiling discreetly integrating all technical systems,
and a refined palette of stone, terrazzo and oak. The project is built around a simple idea:
creating a continuous spatial sequence where the eye moves effortlessly from the street to
the gallery, through the courtyard and into the garden, dissolving the boundary between
interior and exterior.
Founded by Danielle Cardoso and Frank Elbaz, LXVIII RUE DES ARCHIVES brings
together an exhibition space, artists’ residency, garden and workspaces within a single
destination dedicated to contemporary creation.

388FARM - Tamagawa Josui Old Waterway Urban Design
Once a vital waterway in Edo, the Tamagawa Josui Old Waterway is being reimagined as an urban design project centered on a 2.6 km greenway, fostering local connections across Sasazuka, Hatagaya, and Hatsudai in Shibuya.

Rooted in the concept of “FARM = Nurture & Grow,” the project supports food production, as well as people, communities, and local connections. By cultivating the rough soil, preserving existing trees, and creating spaces for gathering and rest, it fosters relationships between people, nature, and place.

ATTA’s second monograph has finally arrived at the publisher in Europe!

It presents 17 projects completed or in progress since 2018, including the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, the Sensoji Treasure Museum (provisional title), the Al Thani Collection – Hôtel de la Marine in Paris, and the Tane Garden House on the Vitra Campus.

Each project begins with research into the latent “memory” embedded in its site and context, unfolding through questions, conceptual frameworks, and design processes. These are presented in depth through extensive visual material, including photographs, drawings, and architectural diagrams.

ATTA’s atelier is located on the top floor of a multi-storey car park on Boulevard Diderot in Paris’ 12th arrondissement.

Since moving in 2019, we have gradually transformed the top level into our workspace through continuous renovation and adaptation.

From fundamental works such as electrical installations to the introduction of greenery, the creation of meeting rooms, and the expansion of model-making areas, the environment has evolved step by step.

These processes are carried out as much as possible through our own design and fabrication, using the approximately 700 m² space as an experimental field.

By engaging deeply with multicultural contexts, we explore themes such as archaeology, anthropology, and collective memory, creating architecture that is rooted in place while remaining open to the future.

The objects and furniture placed throughout the atelier, along with a diverse collection of books that extends beyond the boundaries of architecture and art, form a reservoir of knowledge and serve as a continuous source of inspiration for our work.
