[DATA] While roofs make up more than ⅓ of Paris’ surface, there aren’t any solutions to adapt them to climate change or make them accessible to humans and non humans alike. At Roofscapes, we decided that is a big enough problem worth fighting for! 🌱

[PRESS] 👀📰 The recent New York Times cover, featuring Roofscapes, reports on the overheating of Parisian zinc roofs and the urgent need to adapt them. The piece stresses the importance of combining interior insulation with exterior shading to preserve livability in the city’s upper floors.

The journalist also notes that changes to the Parisian landscape are already underway as residents increasingly install air conditioning units—often without authorization—when passive systems like the one we develop are blocked by preservation bodies. We thank Catherine Porter and James Hill for their trust, and are proud to contribute to this crucial conversation on the future of climate resilience in Paris.

☀️ Overheating homes? As summers get hotter, simple architectural interventions like the addition of suspended balconies can make a big difference: they shade façades and windows, while creating outdoor spaces where residents can find comfort during the mornings and evenings of warmer summer days. Such modifications to the building envelope not only reduce indoor temperatures but also give inhabitants a way out of a potentially warmer flat. This 1:20 drawing explores how small architectural gestures can help housing face a warmer future. Made in collaboration with , part of our installation at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale.
