A Midsummer Greeting from Tammet CEO Jan Silén – 2026

Dear Tammet colleagues, customers, and partners,

As Midsummer approaches, it is a good time to pause and reflect on the spring season before turning our attention to the fall and the opportunities ahead.

The first half of the year has been active and eventful for us. We have had the opportunity to carry out meaningful work with our customers, develop our services, and advance new initiatives.

It is especially encouraging that we have secured several significant projects for the fall. Our project portfolio includes demanding infrastructure projects as well as network solutions for data centers across the Nordic region.

The construction market in the Nordics has not yet recovered as strongly as we had hoped, but there are already signs of improvement. We believe the market will begin to show clear improvement during the second half of this year, or no later than early 2027.

This past spring has once again demonstrated how much can be achieved when talented people work together toward shared goals. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all Tammet employees for their commitment, professionalism, and excellent collaboration.

My gratitude also goes to our customers and partners for their trust and constructive cooperation. Together, we have built a strong foundation for the future.

Our business environment continues to evolve, but one thing remains unchanged: our commitment to helping our customers succeed and to continuously improving our own operations with a long-term perspective.

We look ahead to the fall with confidence and enthusiasm, ready to seize new opportunities.

Before that, however, it is time to enjoy the light of the Nordic summer, take some well-deserved rest, and recharge for what lies ahead. I hope everyone finds time during the Midsummer holiday to relax, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy the very best moments of summer.

Tammet Mesh Combines Safety with Striking Design

Some buildings tell a story long before you step inside. At The Folks Hotel Konepaja in Helsinki, a former industrial workshop has been transformed into a modern hotel while preserving the character and atmosphere that make the building unique.

The result is a space where history and contemporary design come together seamlessly.

As part of the project, Tammet supplied a stainless-steel mesh solution installed at the center of the hotel's staircase. More than just a safety barrier, the mesh has become an integral architectural feature—enhancing openness, highlighting the staircase design, and complementing the building's industrial heritage.

Using Tammet metal mesh type serie B 2/3/25/14 and custom fastening solutions, the installation delivers both durability and visual impact.

Projects like The Folks Hotel Konepaja demonstrate how architectural mesh can do more than solve a structural challenge. It can become part of a building's identity—bringing together safety, functionality, and design in a single elegant solution.

Tammet Helping Safeguard the Future of Local Groundwater Resources

Clean groundwater is one of the most valuable natural resources in the Raasepori region — and an important part of the area’s vitality and future.

Tammet actively participates in the regional groundwater monitoring program together with local authorities, the municipal water utility, and other operators in the area.

According to the 2025 monitoring report, groundwater conditions at Tammet’s production area remained overall stable. Groundwater levels stayed largely in line with previous years, and no significant changes in overall water quality were detected.

The results highlight the importance of long-term monitoring and responsible operational practices when operating in sensitive groundwater areas. The monitoring program also helps identify changes early and improves understanding of local groundwater conditions over time.

For Tammet, sustainability means concrete actions, transparency, and long-term cooperation to help protect important groundwater resources for future generations.

When a Parking Garage Becomes More Than Just a Parking Garage

Located in Helsinki’s Jätkäsaari district, P-Atlas is a striking example of how technical solutions can also help shape the modern urban landscape.
Completed in 2020, the project features a façade made with Tammet’s aluminum expanded metal mesh — combining durability, functionality, and architectural design.

The expanded metal mesh adds lightness and transparency to the building while meeting the ventilation and durability requirements of a parking structure. Daylight and shadows create a constantly changing façade surface, resulting in a solution that is both practical and visually impressive.

P-Atlas demonstrates how the right façade solution can turn infrastructure into architecture. Cables for climbing plants have been installed in front of the mesh facade, making the entire building environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Lahti Travel Center — A Dialogue Between Copper and Light

Designed by JKMM Architects in collaboration with the City of Lahti, Finland. Completed in 2018, the project is a landmark transportation hub that seamlessly integrates movement, material, and atmosphere.

Tammet Art & Design delivered a bespoke copper metal mesh curtain, type 2/3/20/10 mm—a solution that balances performance and design.

Paired with glass, the copper mesh brings warmth and depth to the façade, forming a semi-transparent layer that enhances both identity and user experience.

As light interacts with the surface, it evolves—creating a dynamic architectural element that elevates a technical structure into expressive design.

Tammet’s gabions take sustainability to a new level

Tammet has taken a significant step toward lower-carbon construction. To our knowledge, we are the first gabion manufacturer in Finland to be awarded an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for our gabion products.

An EPD is an independently verified and standardized environmental declaration that describes a product’s environmental impacts across its entire lifecycle—from raw materials and manufacturing to use and recycling.

It provides reliable and comparable data on factors such as carbon footprint and energy consumption, which are becoming increasingly important in construction procurement and design.

According to calculations we presented at trade fairs, the carbon footprint of a Tammet gabion wall can be up to approximately 75% lower compared to a traditional cast-in-place concrete wall.

This represents a concrete opportunity to make more sustainable material choices without compromising on quality or durability.
Sustainable construction is no longer just a goal, it is the new baseline.
