🏡 Your log home, built from your own plans

Did you know that you don’t have to choose an existing house model when building with Kuusamo Log Houses?

We also manufacture individually designed log homes based on our customers’ own sketches, plans or completed architectural drawings. This means you don’t need to have every detail figured out from the start.

✏ Here’s how to get started:

1. Start with your idea. A simple sketch, a floor plan or completed architectural drawings can all serve as a starting point.

2. Design around your needs. Together with your local Kuusamo Representative, you can discuss your wishes, the characteristics of your plot and your project budget.

3. Finalise your plans. Drawings and sketches are refined together with your Kuusamo Representative before the quotation stage. You will also review the scope of delivery and what is included in your log home package.

You can also start with one of our existing house models and customise it to suit your preferences.

Whether you’re planning a year-round home or a holiday home, there are several ways to create a log home that suits your needs. 😊

Sometimes, building a home can change much more than your surroundings. 🏡

What started as a plan for a second home on Kimitoön, an island in Southwest Finland, gradually took a new direction. Along the way, the idea of spending holidays there turned into something more permanent.

Life changed in other ways, too. During the project, a new relationship began, and the home that was originally planned for one eventually became a home for two.

Today, the 91 mÂČ log home is a year-round home, designed around everyday life. It combines three bedrooms with an open kitchen and living area, warm wooden surfaces and large windows overlooking the surrounding nature. A separate log sauna by the shore provides additional space for relaxing and accommodating guests.

The buildings share a modern architectural style. The main house was built from non-settling laminated logs, while modern laminated logs were chosen for the sauna.

🏡 A model is only the starting point.

Every plot is different – and so is every family, lifestyle and idea of home.

That is why Kuusamo Log Houses models can be adapted to suit individual needs. The floor area can be adjusted, windows enlarged, interior walls moved and room layouts changed. Even the roof shape and overall architectural style can be modified.

Across much of Europe, the days are still warm and bright in mid-August, making it a good time to inspect the exterior of your log home or holiday home.

Take a moment to check the condition of the log surfaces and terraces, and make sure rainwater is directed safely away from the building. đŸ”đŸŒ§ïž

Regular inspections and taking care of small maintenance needs early help keep a log building in good condition for years to come. Many of the tasks are similar to those required for any detached home: monitoring exterior surfaces, moisture management and rainwater drainage is essential. đŸ› ïž

We’re often asked whether our log home models can be customized and what kind of costs the changes involve. 🏡

The answer is yes. Our ready-made models provide a solid starting point, and they can be adapted in many ways to suit individual needs and preferences. We do not charge separately for modifications. Costs are only affected by added or removed materials.

Examples of customizable features include:

â–Ș Roof style
â–Ș Room sizes and layouts
â–Ș Building dimensions
â–Ș Window and door styles and sizes

The most important thing is to find a model with an architectural style and overall idea that feels right to you. From there, the home can be developed further together with your nearest Kuusamo Representative.
