Gabled Residential Trio Completed in Oulunkylä

The HEKA Mestarintie 18 and HASO Käskynhaltijantie 48 residential buildings were completed in Oulunkylä at the end of June. The ensemble is carefully integrated into its surroundings through its pitched roofscape, brick-toned façades, and rhythmic window pattern. Subtle variations in brick hues and jointing lend each building a distinct identity. The development provides 47 municipal rental apartments and 78 right-of-occupancy dwellings.

New Student Housing Planned for Oulu

The Northern Finland Student Housing Foundation (PSOAS) has selected INARO and Rakennusteho as its partners for the expansion of the Välkkylä student village. The proposal, titled Quattro, consists of four buildings connected by a tall atrium space and a central piazza. The buildings have been designed to integrate with the existing architecture of the student village. The project will next proceed to the zoning process.

First Building Permit Submitted for Melkinlaituri Block

The first projects in the block, Merikruunu and Aaltokruunu, will bring 49 homes to the waterfront, including loft apartments and stunning sea views. Based on the winning design of last year’s invited architectural competition organized by Hausia, the block will be built in a prime location alongside Naurunpuisto Park in Jätkäsaari.

A conversation between an architect and two little Oulunkylä kids:
– Hey, is that building like… already done? What even is it?
– Yeah, it’s a parking garage for people living around here. Just wrapped up. And uh—I’m actually the architect who made it.
– No way! Then you gotta be a good architect, ’cause that thing looks awesome!

You don’t get compliments this real and unfiltered too often. Anyway—the Teininrinne parking garage is finished now. Can’t wait to see it once the climbing plants start going wild!
