Marinetek pontoons now manufactured also in Thailand
On April 7th, Marinetek and the Pathumthani Concrete Company (PACO-Group) signed a cooperation agreement for manufacturing and sales of Marinetek's concrete pontoons by PACO Group in Thailand.
The signing of this agreement marks the next step in the cooperation between the two parties. Last year, they agreed already on sales and distribution of imported Marinetek products and services.
The agreement was signed in the presence and in the residence of H.E. Kristiina Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos, the Ambassador of Finland in Thailand, as well as representatives of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning of Bangkok Metropolitan Area.
Mr. Songkierti Khunkitti, Managing Director of PACO Group and Mr. Valtteri Vauramo, Chief Commercial and Technical Officer of Marinetek signed the agreement respectively on behalf of their companies.
Thanks to the efforts of PACO Group, the authorities of Bangkok Metropolitan Area and the Marine Department in Thailand have adopted the design standards and specifications of Marinetek pontoons as the standard for concrete pontoons used for public and governmental facilities.
As a result, PACO Group and Marinetek created a solid foundation to expand their business in Thailand. Not only in the traditional marina industry and floating solutions for leisure craft – the core business for Marinetek – but also in contributing to the improvements and upgrades of the inland water way traffic system along Chao Phraya River and the numerous klongs in Bangkok.
According to Mr. Ruurd van Putten, Area Director of Marinetek in Southeast Asia: “Thailand is a popular yachting destination in Southeast Asia, and it sees increased interest from superyachts that plan to visit the area. Also, for yacht charter and marine related lifestyle activities, the demand is increasing and that results in a steady stream of inquiries for more, better, safer and stronger berthing facilities.”

In a short speech before the signing ceremony, the Ambassador highlighted that Finland, as a great engineering country, and particularly Finnish companies like Marinetek, offer specialised solutions on a global scale. With several reference projects in Thailand, Marinetek can look forward to further growth and expansion in the Thai market. Especially with The Pathumthani Concrete Company, which she complimented with and thanked for choosing Marinetek as strategic partner.
