From an ongoing series, Liminal Limbs, handground oil and cold wax on canvas, 48 × 48 inches.
I'm not sure if the optics of this painting translate on screen—in person, this seemingly static image produces retinal flashes—the shapes generate afterimages that dance and subtly pulse throughout the ground.
I’m continually fascinated by moments in painting when color relationships push into perceptual territory and operate not just optically, but physiologically.
