-Natural rocks and why we like them
Stone is highly valued in our society, for its resistance to different types of efforts and for its noble and natural appearance. In Aliaran Marble we enjoy working with this material because it always satisfies those requests and expectations that our clients have.
Since man became sedentary, he has known how to take advantage of a wide variety of rocky materials, after realizing that they were suitable for use in construction.
New transformation techniques have been developed to meet the current demand for quality and noble materials; the marbles, the limestones, the sandstones, the granites, the slates, the travertines, the quartzites, the basalts, etc. They are materials that have their quality guaranteed, not only because they certify the results of physical-mechanical tests, but also in the durability that we appreciate in our monumental environment, which is centuries old.
We can say that all "natural" materials, as well as beautiful, are durable, a condition that has not yet been demonstrated by the "artificial" products that are so widely available on the market today.
-Natural stone for commercial use
For the commercial use of natural stone, those rocks that can be obtained in blocks or pieces of a certain size that allow their use or commercialization are used, and therefore, their constitutive properties remain intact in their transformation stages.
Therefore, when we say that we look for an ornamental rock, we want a natural stone that has been selected, cut in a certain shape or size, with or without mechanically elaborated surfaces.
When this stone is used (by simple cutting), in the building, it is called construction rock. If the stones are worked looking for an aesthetic purpose, they usually talk about ornamental rock.
-Groups of materials
From the commercial perspective and the performance offered to the buyer:
-Stones: These are called stonemasonry stones or cut stones, mainly limestones, sandstones, quartzites and other rocky materials that have received a mainly artisanal treatment. They have been used for centuries in construction and ornamentation.
-Marbles: those rocks that are extracted in the form of large blocks and are capable of admitting polishing. By ignorance, we also call marbles to streamers, dolomites and recrystallized limestones.
-Granites: are sized rocks (extracted in the form of large blocks), granites and granodiorites, there are also basic rocks (gabros and others), migmatites, syenites, etc.
-Slates: they are traditionally used in roofs, in masonry and in paving; Nowadays they are also being used for flooring, coatings and ornamentation.
