"VERS 6" zeigt sich dieses Mal von einer etwas anderen Seite. 🌵🌸

Ihre Blüten sind diesmal anders ausgefallen als gewohnt. Gerade bei außergewöhnlichen Hybriden kann es vorkommen, dass nicht jede Blüte exakt gleich aussieht.

An der Genetik der Pflanze ändert das natürlich nichts – deshalb habe ich die Blüten trotzdem ganz normal bestäubt. Wie eine solche Bestäubung bei Kakteen funktioniert, zeige ich euch in diesem Reel.

Jetzt bleibt nur noch die spannende Frage: Wurde der Pollen angenommen und entsteht eine Samenkapsel? 🌱✨

A big seed pod… but only 10 seeds inside. 😅🌵

That’s hybrid breeding: not every attempt is successful. Sometimes the pollen is not accepted, and the flower drops before it has even started to form a seed pod.

And even when a pod develops, it may contain only a few seeds instead of hundreds. But even a pod full of seeds is no guarantee—hybrid seeds can still be unable to germinate.

It’s a long journey from pollinating a flower to seeing the first strong seedlings standing tall. This time, I have only 10 little chances. Now let’s see what they can do! 🤞🌱
