برك سوداء استخدمها الإنسان قديمًا في البناء والطب كمواد لاصقة، ظهرت على سطح الأرض نتيجة للتشققات الأرضية، تلك البرك كانت نفطية تثبت بأن الإنسان أكتشفها منذ القدم، ولكن استخدامه كمصدرٍ للطاقة بدأت معرفته في منتصف القرن التاسع عشر، استُخدِم ك وقودًا لوسائل النقل والمواصلات، واستُخدِم في الزراعة كمبيدات حشرية وأسمدة، كما استُخدِم لتوليد الكهرباء، والعديد من الاستخدامات الأخرى، ومع ذلك النفط مصدرٌ غير متجدد، تسرباته النفطية لها أثر خطير على البيئة في اليابسة، وفي المسطحات المائية تقضي على الحياة البحرية، كما يؤدي إلى تلوث الماء والهواء، ويبقى السؤال ما الحل؟ ألا يمكننا الجمع بين الطاقة والحفاظ على صحتنا وعلى البيئة؟

الطاقة النووية هي طاقة يتم توليدها عن طريق التحكم في تفاعلات انشطار أو اندماج الذرة، ظهرت في منتصف القرن العشرين تقريبًا، بعد صنع أول مفاعل نووي في عام 1942م، استُخدِمت في توليد الكهرباء وفي بعض المجالات الطبية، وقيل عنها إنها صديقة للبيئة؛ لقلة انبعاثاتها الكربونية، ومع ذلك مخلّفاتها شديدة الخطورة على البشر والبيئة، ويجب التعامل معها بحذر شديد للعديد من السنوات، تتسبب في التشوهات الخلقية وموت الحياة القريبة منها، تلوث الماء، حوادثها كارثة، وأيضًا غير متجددة، لتثبت بحق بأنها نعم الصديق للبيئة، ويبقى السؤال ما الحل؟ ألا يمكننا الجمع بين الطاقة والحفاظ على صحتنا وعلى البيئة؟

الغاز الطبيعي مصدر للطاقة كَثُر استخدامه في مطلع القرن العشرين، خيزران الصنيين كان أول أنبوبةٍ لنقل الغاز في حوالي 500 قبل الميلاد حيث استخدموه في غلي ماء البحر لاستخراج الملح، يمكن أن يتواجد مصاحبًا للنفط أو غير مصاحب، استُخدِم في التدفئة وطهي الطعام، وفي توليد الكهرباء، شدة لهب الغاز الطبيعي يمكن أن تسبب حرائق وانفجارات إذا لم يتم التعامل معها بحرص وتكمن الصعوبة في كونه عديم اللون والرائحة، و أيضًا يطلق غاز ثاني أكسيد الكربون المسبب للاحتباس الحراري، فوق ذلك هو غير متجدد، لنتساءل حقًا هل هناك مصدر للطاقة مصاحب للبيئة؟

من باطن الأرض إلى سطحها استخرج الإنسان الفحم ليكون أول مصدرٍ للطاقة تبدأ به ثورةٌ صناعيةٌ عظيمة في مطلع القرن التاسع عشر، استخدمه في التدفئة، ووقودًا للمحركات البخارية التي حركت القطارات والسفن، ثم استخدمه لتوليد الكهرباء، ولكن عملية استخراجه كلفت الكثير من عمال المناجم حياتهم، وانبعثاته الكربونيه لوثت الهواء ومع مخلفاته لوثت الماء، ليكون من أكبر أسباب الاحتباس الحراري الذي أصاب المناخ، ومنشأً للعديد من الأمراض، ليمر بنا الزمن ونكتشف مصدرًا آخر من مصادر الطاقة، فهل سنجد معه حلًا لتلك المشكلات؟

كلما مرَّ الزمن على الإنسان، تأكد بأنه إذا لم يراعي الطبيعة فسوف يعود عليه ذلك بالضرر، وكأن الطبيعة تنذره بالتوقف وتحثه على الرجوع إليها، وتقول : بدأت بي وستنتهي بي.
منذ البداية ومنذ مئات السنين حينما لم يكن في العالم سوى الإنسان والطبيعة، اعتمد الإنسان على طاقته البدنية؛ ليعيش حياته لبناء منزله وجمع طعامه، ثم الطاقة الحيوانية فسخر الحيوان لمساعدته في العمل ونقله، تدفَّأ بالشمس والنار من الأحجار وحطب الأشجار، والرياح كانت مساعدته على الإبحار، وما زال الإنسان يكتشف ويفكر وينفذ حتى وصل إلى مصدر للطاقة غير الكثير في الحياة.
فما هذا المصدر؟ وما هو تأثيره على البيئة والحياة؟
