Al Mahalla Weaving, Preparation and Dyeing Factories

The completion of the Al Mahalla Weaving, Preparation and Dyeing Factories marks a significant milestone in the modernization and revival of Egypt’s textile industry, expanding domestic manufacturing capabilities and supporting the sector’s long-term growth and export potential.

Orascom Construction completed the construction works and is nearing delivery, while achieving more than 10 million safe man-hours. This milestone reflects the dedication of our engineers, technicians, and site teams, and our continued focus on safe and disciplined project ex*****on.

With Orascom Construction also building a new textile manufacturing complex in Damietta, these projects support the revitalization of one of Egypt’s longstanding industries, strengthening local manufacturing, creating opportunities for local talent, and enhancing the sector’s competitiveness and export potential.

Nagaa Hammadi–Luxor Railway Modernization Project: Progress Update

A major milestone has been achieved on the Nagaa Hammadi–Luxor Railway Modernization Project with the successful commissioning and integration of the Electronic Interlocking System (EIS) sector at Qos Station, marking the fifth EIS sector to enter service, following the completion of Apnod, Rahmania, Qeft, and Deshna stations.

The newly commissioned 11 km EIS sector is fully equipped with modern signaling and control systems, advancing the phased modernization of the Nagaa Hammadi–Luxor railway corridor.

The project upgrades a 118 km railway corridor spanning 14 stations and 45 level crossings to Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL4) standards through the implementation of an Electronic Interlocking System (EIS), the highest level of functional safety for railway signaling.

This project forms part of Orascom Construction’s rail modernization track record in Egypt, which includes the modernization of the Cairo–Beni Suef railway corridor and ongoing upgrades to Cairo Metro Line 1, alongside the Group’s broader rail portfolio spanning Greater Cairo Metro, Abi Qir Metro, the operational East of Nile Monorail, and the High-Speed Rail Network.

Orascom Construction provided two additional assistive technology devices to EDU Foundation, a non-profit organization that empowers students with disabilities through inclusive education, including specialized support for students with visual impairments.

The latest contribution builds on Orascom Construction’s previous support of five Braille devices and one video magnifier to further enhance accessible learning opportunities for students with visual impairments. The new devices include a graphics device that transforms images, maps, and diagrams into accessible learning materials, and a Computer Numerical Control laser machine used to produce educational models and geometric tools. Together, these technologies will enhance learning by making scientific and mathematical concepts more accessible through hands-on experiences.

Through strategic partnerships with leading organizations, Orascom Construction continues to advance inclusive education by providing solutions that improve accessibility and empower students with visual impairments to overcome barriers, pursue their learning goals, and reach their full potential.

Orascom Construction has commenced tunneling works on Greater Cairo Metro Line 4 – CP402, with the first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) successfully commissioned and operational, while commissioning of the second TBM is nearing completion. The two TBMs were prepared and mobilized within six months and customized to address the project’s complex geometric and geotechnical conditions, enabling approximately 8 kilometers of tunneling works.

This phase comprises approximately 5.4 km of underground tunnels extending from Giza to Fustat, with interchanges connecting to Metro Lines 1 and 2. Orascom Construction's scope includes civil, tunneling, and MEP works for five stations, a turn-back point, and twin running tunnels, each approximately 3.9 km long with an external diameter of 6.7 meters.

In parallel, an Orascom Construction consortium is delivering the railway systems package for all of Greater Cairo Metro Line 4 Phase 1, spanning 19 km and 16 stations, building on the Group’s leading role on all lines of Greater Cairo since the 1980s.

Orascom Construction celebrates the 26th year of the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program, which has supported 105 exceptional Egyptian students with full scholarships to top U.S. universities since its launch in 2000. The program is one of the Company’s flagship education initiatives, reflecting its long-standing commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders through education.

The special ceremony brought together program alumni and incoming scholars, celebrating the achievements of past recipients while welcoming the next generation of Egyptian students. The event was attended by Eng.Osama Bishai, CEO of Orascom Construction, who presented scholarship certificates and reaffirmed our commitment to education.

Orascom Construction, in partnership with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, has enabled outstanding students to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies at leading U.S. institutions, including Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Recipients return to Egypt to contribute to the country's development through a two-year work commitment.

The Octagon: One of The World’s Largest Strategic Defence Headquarters.

Located in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, The Octagon was inaugurated as the strategic headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, marking the completion of one of the world’s most complex defense infrastructure developments.

Orascom Construction delivered the two main ministerial buildings and the Presidential Building, including the State Defense Crisis Management Centre, on a turnkey basis, together with the associated utilities and infrastructure.

Orascom Construction celebrates the graduation of a new cohort from the San3ety Program, a youth employability initiative implemented by INJAZ Egypt in partnership with Orascom Construction and ExxonMobil Egypt.

This year, 20 students graduated after completing training in automotive mechanics, employability, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, English, and AutoCAD. Through hands-on experience and practical assessments at an Orascom Construction site, participants gained the skills and experience needed to pursue internships and employment opportunities.

Through initiatives like San3ety, we remain committed to empowering young talent, developing future skills, and creating pathways to meaningful employment.
