Before we decided to relocate to the Danish countryside we had plans to build this house for ourselves in Copenhagen, Denmark.

After 18 months we had still not received planning permission and decided to consider other options which led to us finding the absolute dream of a site and its three interconnected houses where we live now (previous post).

This house was designed in response to many strict regulations which felt a bit comical and somewhat ironic considering that the area of Amager features the most illegal developments in the country.

A year and a half ago, we started a new project on a stunning coastal site in Southern Denmark. It includes three interconnected houses from 1890, 1920, and 1975.

We now live here and are gradually renovating these spaces into our ideal family home, an open-air sauna showroom, an office, and a workshop.

The site has only been inhabited by one previous family who's grandfather arrived by boat from Sweden, worked on the fields and built a 10sqm house in 1890.

We feel blessed to be looking after this place and doing our best to improve it while we are here.

We built a bespoke version of our Original Scandinavian Sauna for Endorfin, a company focused on hot & cold therapy and mobility exercises in Ireland and decided to make a film about them, the sauna and the stunning context in which they carry out their work.

There really is something special about seeking out new places in nature and to be able to enjoy these in a completely different way using a mobile sauna. We often say that mobility means freedom, because it really does.
