Forests rarely ask for credit, but the work they do is enormous. 🌳

Europe's forests absorb the equivalent of around 7.5% of the EU's entire annual carbon emissions, quietly, every single year.

They also support over 3.2 million jobs across the continent, from forestry and timber to conservation and research. A healthy forest is not just good for the planet. It is good for the people who depend on it too.
So the next time you walk under a canopy, remember it is doing far more than providing shade. It is cleaning the air you breathe and supporting livelihoods you may never see.

That is the kind of quiet impact we want more of, across France, Germany, and Denmark alike.

Step into any European forest and you are never alone. 🦊

Over 1,000 different animal species make their home among the trees, from tiny invertebrates in the leaf litter to deer moving quietly through the undergrowth.

Zoom out further, and the numbers get even bigger.

Forests are home to roughly 80% of all land-based species on Earth, and shelter more than 60,000 known tree species worldwide.

A forest is never just wood. It is a city of root systems, birdsong, insects, and quiet dens, all layered on top of each other.

Every tree we plant adds another room to that city.

Want to help build a home for more than just trees? Plant yours today via the link in bio. 🌳

Here is a fact that surprises most people. 🔎 Across Europe, around two-thirds of forest area already holds two or more tree species growing side by side. Nature figured this out a long time ago.

Mixed forests cope better with drought, storms, and pests, because no single threat can take down every tree at once. In France, our foresters practise close-to-nature forestry, which means no clear-cutting, natural regeneration, and a genuine mix of species and ages growing together.

It is slower than a monoculture. It is also far harder to break.

When you plant with EcoTree, you are not just adding one tree. You are adding to a system built to last. 🌳

See how a mixed forest takes shape, one hectare at a time, on our website.

Did you know? 🧐 After the wars, huge stretches of German forest were replanted with a single tree species: spruce.🌲

Fast-growing, easy to harvest, simple to manage.

Then came the drought years. Weakened spruce could no longer produce the sticky resin that keeps bark beetles out. The beetles moved in, and since 2018, more than 300,000 hectares of German forest have died, over 2.5% of the country's entire forest area.

A forest made of one species is a forest with one weak point. When that point fails, everything falls with it.

This is why mixed, resilient planting matters so much to us. Diversity is not decoration. It is survival. 🍁

Did you know? 🧐 Back in 1989, Denmark made a quiet but ambitious promise. Double the country's forest area by 2065, taking cover from around 12% up to 25%.

Fast forward to today and Denmark sits at about 14.5%. Progress, yes. But there is still a long road of planting ahead before that promise is kept.

🌳 We planted our very first Danish trees in 2022, and we have been growing forests ever since. Every new hectare closes the gap a little further.

Curious how your own trees could help close that gap? Take a look at our Danish forests via the link in bio. 🔗

Close your eyes and picture Europe from above. Rolling green canopy, right? Here's the truth in numbers. 🌳

Forests cover about 39% of the EU's land area. That sounds generous, until you zoom in. France sits at roughly 31%. Germany is close behind at around 32%. Denmark, one of our home markets, has just 14.5% forest cover today.

Every hectare we plant nudges that number in the right direction. Forests are not just scenery. They clean our air, hold our soil together, and give thousands of species somewhere to live.

We are not planting for today. We are planting for the Europe our children will walk through.

🔥 Last August, a wildfire tore through 17,000 hectares in the Corbières in southern France in under 48 hours. That land is being restored now, planted with the diversity that would have helped it survive in the first place.

For 10€ you can help restore 10m2 of the area - and we need all the help we can get! 🙏

Summer in the (young) forest ☀️

Not long ago, our Head of Ecommerce, Kia, popped by our Thisted forest to see how the trees were settling in.

The verdict? They're loving the sunshine. Spruce shoots reaching skyward, alders filling out nicely, and even a lone hawthorn holding its own among the tall grass.

But summer sun comes with a catch. The whole region is bracing for a dry spell, so we'll be keeping a close eye on how this young forest copes over the coming weeks. Growing a forest is a marathon, not a sprint, and the first few summers are when it matters most.

More updates from Thisted soon 🌱

This European summer is trying to tell us something. 🌡️

🇩🇰 Denmark just broke a heat record that had stood since 1874.
🇫🇷 France had its hottest day since 1947.
🇩🇪 Germany broke 252 all-time station records in a single heatwave.

We know, we know, 'it's just summer' is getting harder to say with a straight face.

Over the next few weeks, we're looking at what all this heat is actually doing, not just to us, but to the forests that are supposed to help us cope with it. Starting with the numbers.
