Manufacture - Customs - Restoration - Hardware He restored this Trixon drumset in "Sky blue Pearl" and played it for while.

In the Summer of 1995, Gerd Stegner found an old Trixon drumset in very bad condition. In Germany, he could not get any new coverings because the manufacturers closed years ago. So he spent a lot of time and money on telephone calls until he found a source for the parts he needed. Many drummers asked him about his new drumset and an idea was born: "When I need such things, why don't sell the stuff

to other drummers and collectors?"
So the company started with coverings. Later Keller drumshells and hardware were the next things in the store. Now we have all the parts you need to build your drum. We also restore and repair vintage or newer drums. And of course, we build custom drums and snares how you want it. Take a look at our store - we have all you need:

Im Sommer 1995 fand Gerd Stegner ein altes Trixon Schlagzeug in sehr schlechtem Zustand. In Deutschland war keine Dekorfolie zum Überziehen zu bekommen .Endlich wurde er in den USA fündig und restaurierte das Set in "Sky Blue Pearl". Durch viele Anfragen ermuntert, gründete er seine Firma "St drums", die sich mit dem Handel und der Restaurierung von Schlagzeugen beschäftigt. Angefangen mit Folie, ging es weiter mit Kesseln und Hardware. Heute haben wir alles, was man zum Bau einer Trommel braucht. Wir restaurieren und reparieren auch Vintage- oder neuere Trommeln. Many airvents, bigger airvents or a slot in the middle?

We've build a 14x6.5" snaredrum that sounds like the 80s. The slot in the middle allows more air to escape and you receive a louder and dry sound.

The shell itself is a Keller mahogany, but painted red inside because of the matching Delmar Red Onyx drumwrap.

The details matter. 🥁

This 15" Sonor Phonic Concert Tom is being converted into a floor tom, and in this video we’re focusing on some of the less visible - but important - details.

We’re cutting the bearing edge on the bottom of the shell and drilling the mounting holes for the lower lugs.

Just like Sonor originally did, we drill the holes in two steps using different diameters. This allows the fastening screw to sit perfectly centered in the lug hole.

It’s a small detail, but it’s exactly this kind of attention to the original construction that makes a vintage drum conversion look and feel right.

A new look for a classic Sonor Champion. 🥁

Originally finished in Sonor’s blue stained finish, this particular look was especially common on kits sold to schools.

For the restoration, we stripped the old appearance back and gave the shells a Rosewood replica veneer. The original hardware was also carefully polished and restored.

From a well-used school kit to a completely refreshed vintage drumset - keeping the character of the original while giving it a whole new identity.
