When DB InfraGO replaced the 1,555 tonnes railway bridge over a street in Neckarsulm, Germany, the challenge was not only the weight of the structure. The new bridge had to be moved from its assembly area into its final position, around a corner and then lowered into place.

For the heavy transport operation, Sarens deployed a platform consisting of 120 axle lines of SCHEUERLE SPMT. Combined with a transport gantry, the total moving weight reached around 2,500 tonnes.

Within less than an hour, the bridge had travelled from its construction area to its final location. What followed was a carefully controlled lowering operation to position the structure with millimetre precision.

Projects like this demonstrate why SPMT technology has become an essential tool for modern infrastructure construction: moving massive loads is one thing. Moving them precisely through confined environments is something else entirely.

One of the most demanding operations in Polish shipbuilding history 🚢

At the shipyard in Gdynia, four rows of SCHEUERLE self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) were used to transport the hull of ORP Wicher, the first of three Miecznik-class frigates being built for the Polish Navy.

The Miecznik programme is the largest naval shipbuilding project in Poland's history. Transporting and positioning a frigate hull weighing around 6,000 tonnes safely and precisely is a challenge that requires absolute reliability and control.

We are proud to see that TII SCHEUERLE technology contributes to projects of this scale, helping shipbuilders move some of the world's most complex structures with millimetre precision.

What happens in the event of hydraulic failure❓
Our latest animation takes a closer look at exactly this scenario and demonstrates the safety concept behind the SCHEUERLE BladeLifter.

The system is equipped with a dual-circuit hose burst protection system that automatically isolates the affected hose in the event of a failure.

At the heart of the concept are two hydraulic cylinders instead of one. This dual-cylinder design not only provides additional capacity reserves, but also relies on proven industrial standard cylinders that are used worldwide and have demonstrated their reliability in demanding applications for decades.

An additional advantage: the cylinders are strategically integrated into the BladeLifter's massive steel structure, providing extra protection against external impacts during operation.

Combined with the load-holding valve, the system helps keep the blade securely in position, even in the event of a hydraulic failure or power loss.
