From aggregate to finished surface 🎯

A smooth finish, a subtle micro-texture or a more pronounced exposed aggregate look can completely change the appearance of a concrete element.

With surface retarders and wash-out gels from RECKLI, a wide range of surface finishes and wash-out depths can be achieved. By removing the upper cement paste, aggregates such as granite, marble, basalt or gravel become visible and define the colour, texture and feel of the finished surface.

Depending on the application and the desired result, different processes can be used:
🔹 RECKLI CR Type N is applied to the formwork before concreting and is suitable for the negative process.
🔹 RECKLI CR Type PV is sprayed directly onto the fresh concrete surface for the positive process.
🔹 RECKLI CemGel creates a fine micro-exposure of the surface, resulting in a slightly roughened, natural stone-like appearance.

How can a Façade Tell the Story of Science?

At the Paul Sabatier Library in Toulouse, architecture becomes a medium for knowledge and innovation. The building’s distinctive concrete façade features photo-engraved imagery inspired by science and research, celebrating the university’s rich academic heritage.

What makes this project truly unique is the way the images emerge from the concrete itself.

Through finely engraved reliefs, light and shadow reveal different motifs throughout the day, creating a dynamic façade that changes with every perspective.

A new chapter for RECKLI in Africa 🌍

RECKLI is expanding its activities across West Africa and South Africa through the establishment of RECKLI Africa.

Our goal is clear: to create a stronger local presence, establish a small production facility, reduce transport distances and support our customers more directly.

An important part of this development will be building a strong local network. We are therefore looking for partners who are interested in working with RECKLI and developing these markets together.

The upcoming ICCX will be the first opportunity to meet us in person, learn more about our plans for RECKLI Africa and explore opportunities for cooperation.

Rough concrete, blackened steel and stainless steel define the interior of the new Flagship Store in Berlin.

For the large-format concrete elements, chose our RECKLI 1/41 B Ibiza formliner with its pronounced vertical rib structure.

To achieve the concrete’s rough, mineral appearance, the front sections of the ribs were additionally treated with RECKLI CR Type N surface retarder.

Produced by , the concrete elements create a strong contrast with the smooth, precisely finished metal surfaces throughout the store.

A new address for one of Berlin’s best-known streetwear labels 📍

Founded in Berlin in 2014, has grown into one of Germany’s most recognised streetwear brands. For its new flagship store in Berlin-Mitte, designed around 350 m² of retail space across the ground floor and basement.

The interior keeps a deliberately restrained colour palette. Concrete, blackened steel, stainless steel, natural stone and mineral surfaces create a calm setting for the collections, which bring most of the colour into the space.

Details, textures and material transitions shape the overall impression and give the store its distinctive character. The ribbed concrete elements, produced by using our RECKLI 1/41 B Ibiza formliner, form part of this carefully composed material concept.

Room to Explore

A place to play, learn and explore: In the Haselstauden district of Dornbirn, a new childcare center has been created as part of a redesigned neighborhood center. Designed by Cukrowicz Nachbaur Architekten, the four-storey building accommodates around 180 children across eight groups. The clear architectural design is complemented by a distinctive façade.

A key design element is the textured exposed concrete façade: RECKLI Formliner Sinus 18/76 was used for the exterior surfaces. Its wave-like texture is directly transferred onto the concrete surface, giving the façade rhythm and depth.

New Kind of University in the Heart of the Olympic Park

UCL East Marshgate is at the heart of University College London’s new campus in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Designed by , the eight-storey building brings together research, teaching and public spaces across approximately 35,000 m².

A defining feature is the exposed concrete of the multi-storey Fluid Zone. For these surfaces, the architects developed a bespoke board-marked texture using timber boards of different widths and depths.

To bring this bespoke design to life, RECKLI created custom elastic formliners from the original timber masters, resulting in a natural and varied board-marked concrete finish.

The result has gained significant recognition: UCL East Marshgate was named RIBA London Building of the Year 2026 and received a RIBA National Award 2026.
A great example of how a bespoke idea can become a distinctive architectural identity in concrete.
