“El desacord” (Disagreement), the new publication by a cobert
The publication marks the culmination of the seminar on literature and visual arts held last autumn by the team at a cobert at the now-closed —and legendary— La Caníbal bookshop. It brings together contributions by Amanda Cuesta , Blanca Arias blanca arias, and Beatrice Simoncini Amado Beatrice Simoncini Amado.
Taking the notion of disagreement as a starting point, the three texts explore different ways of inhabiting dissent, questioning consensus, and imagining alternative forms of relationships and community.
The editorial design also stems from this same idea: repetitions, interruptions, shifts, and overlaps construct a deliberately unstable composition, in which typography becomes visual matter, creating tensions between order and rupture, reading and image.
The book takes on a narrow, vertical format of 10 × 29.7 cm, with a cover printed on 250 g/m² Tintoretto Ceylon Cumino and an interior on 100 g/m² recycled paper. A materiality that reinforces the character of the piece through texture, colour, and a strong physical presence.
