Grey skies, dark timber, and autumn colour caught in the glass.

Our Gendai holds its depth even on the dullest days. The charred surface reads almost matt under overcast light, while the windows pick up the last of the season's reds and golds. Quietly dramatic, without needing the sun to prove it.

Stunning in every season.

Golden leaves scattered across the lawn, the light already fading, and warm light spilling from inside. One side of the façade sits in full shadow, deep and black. The other catches the last of the sun, the brushed grain of our Gendai lighting up along the boards.

Same material, two entirely different faces, and both of them worth stopping for.

Where the forest sets the tone, and the cladding listens.

Our Gendai in light oak finds its rhythm in the Odenwald — the warm, brushed cedar surface softening into the greens and browns of the surrounding woodland. Modern in line, natural in feel.

A former embassy, reimagined in charred cedar.

In a verdant corner of Berlin, a new cubic addition in our Suyaki floats above the existing structure — precise, tactile, almost weightless. White render meets black wood. Smooth meets textured. Past meets present.

Two finishes, one conversation.

On a hilltop in the Ostallgäu region, our Suyaki and Pika-Pika come together in deliberate contrast — the deep black char of one against the lighter, tactile grain of the other. A façade that rewards a second look, and a third.

Perched above the Columbia River Gorge — where Scandinavian minimalism meets Japanese craft.

Clad in Gendai linseed black with Douglas Fir accents, the Rivendell project is the vision of owner Stephen Proctor, who found his design language in an unexpected place: a mug from a shop in Northern Ireland. The rest, as they say, wrote itself.
