“Russian manicure” is a name that became associated with techniques introduced internationally by professionals from Russian-speaking nail education.
But behind this technique are years of practice, a deep understanding of tools, skin types, e-file control, pressure, angles, and safe working methods.
Very often, I see people who are not part of this educational background trying to reproduce what they see online. And sometimes the result looks more like damage than a clean manicure.
Even if Russian manicure looks easy in short videos, it is a skill that requires a lot of knowledge and control.
This is also one of the reasons why people consider Russian manicure dangerous or harmful.
And yes, it can be dangerous when it is performed aggressively or without proper education.
But that does not mean that the technique itself should cause damage.
A good manicure should never damage healthy skin or nails.
And one more important point:
“Russian manicure” is not necessarily Russian.
The name is connected much more to the Russian-speaking education tradition that made these techniques internationally known than to one specific country or inventor.
